It's funny how some are so quick to judge, I have not started my application therefore I cannot have a timeline ;) Geez...

so why are you worried about the POE.?

I don't know if baf is actually worried, Dean; but (as there was no qualification that it had to be the non-USC partner posting), it is something that can be shared.

Maybe it's just me...but it IRKS me when someone is posting asking for help or asking questions and have NO INFO POSTED AT ALL...not even what country they're from, if they are the USC or not, what visa type they are going for...i mean NOTHING.

Just my opinion

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

I believe OP is British and looking to visit US.

baf,

Always good to have some info on your profile....I to do not have timeline as I have not started the visa process either...but as least ppl can see where I am coming from as I have put some info in my signature. Your questions can be answered easier if it is known where you are from

Russ was neary denied at the POE in December-told not to come back through unless he had ther proper visa in hand. This was his fifth visit to the US in 2005 and second consecutive 90 day visit.

I STRESS THIS POINT-We. Were. Lucky. He was only nearly stopped.

He was lucky.. I would have sent his @ss back home :)

Short periodic visits don't usually raise an eyebrow with the CBP....

But when you start taking long visits such a 3 month stretches and when you make very frequent visits, it will get the CBP radar going...

I now have this mental image of a CBP looking at a passport and info on a screen, and suddenly this anntenae coming up out of thier head, the "radar" coming on.

Hey welsh :) ok no problem I'll add what I can hehe, Anywaaaays Back to topic!

Is 1 month seen as a long visit to start questioning ? Its because Im finishing college soon and I dont have any proof ties to my country seens Im taking a gap year so I thought I'd visit for 3wks-1month for a holiday and to see my (L) hehe and I would dread if they sent me back but Im starting to feel itsunlikely since im staying for a while and usually those that do get denied have had several visits as this would be my first to the States eek! ok thanks for the reply guys continue sharing your experiences!

I don't even want to get into this.. BUT since there's a topic about it, here I go.

POE AUG 2003 went to visit Dallas for 2 weeks (Toronto - Phoenix)

I was researching colleges, Dallas says I should come back down and visit the local college campuses and see if I like them better than Toronto

SEPT 2003 - denied. said I needed an F-1 even if I was simply wanting to see a campus!! Load of BS!! (Toronto - Phoenix)

OCT 2003 - denied. Was going with a group of friends to do some border shopping at Buffalo (Buffalo POE). Worst experience ever. Officer Gary, told me to shut up and sit down when I asked why i was being treated so negatively. I called Dallas and told him how rude US border patrol was, he calls them (as a US citizen) and well.. long story short he tells Dallas if I ever try to cross the border he'll make it his priority to ban me for 5 years. Officer Gary than proceeds to tell me he never took my return ticket home. When in fact I had to show him my return ticket as proof of returning! omg. Needless to say, I told him I hoped god would have mercy on his soul. I paid 200 to take a taxi back home.

I was almost denied entry once on my way in to the US to visit my fiance... my POE was detroit and i was coming through on the greyhound bus.. They didn't like it that I had been laid off from my job at that point (I knew more work was coming, it was a seasonal summer job) but they still didn't like that.. I even had a return ticket, and they were like.. well you can refund it, how do we know you are coming back? And then they didn't like it that i didn't have hardly any cash (I was visiting a boyfriend I said, I didn't think i needed that much), so they said, what if you break up? you might be stuck here.. Anywyas.. they ended up letting me in because i was honest about how much money i had and how much i had in the bank (a whole 50 bucks or something like that)... but it was a scary entrance! Do not like Detroit POE at all!!
