I didn't even know this thread existed! I always post on the baby thread about mommy issues but it would be more appropriate for here. I am trying to wean eman off of milk during the night. I think that is why he tosses and turns because milk has never been good on his stomach. He has always had tummy troubles. But for some reason he loves his milk at night. I started with foods when he was 4 months so he should be full at night. Do you guys think that he is more into the sucking due to soothing purposes? I don't want to start with a pacifier at this point. WHAT CAN I DO??

@kristi.. wow u got some big twins :)

D was 28'' and 19 1/2 lbs on december 14th.. i bet he is 2 lbs more now.. we even upgradedd a diaper size and he wears 182mo clothes (from target) and 18mo clothes (from sears) right now.. i dont get it why he got different sizes at different stores.. but whatever.. i dont care as long as it fits

we changed his formula 5x!! cuz he was allergic to 4 and he just wants to eat that 1!! but its ok cuz he is not allergic that that one..

she just gave us a note for WIC that he needs that one cuz of his allergy.. that formula is $28 a can!! so i am REALLY happy that WIC covers it.. we used to get 9 cans a month but now he only gets 7 plus apple juice and rice.. :) which he wont eat anyways..

i would love to have our lil "mommy" corner here but lots of girls just post at the preggers one.. ;)

@nizzy.. girl D would DIE without his paci.. how do u do it..?

[/quote I never gave him a pacifier because I have heard it's hard to get them off of it. Also, my mom tried giving him a pacifier but he would suck on it and immediately spit it out. Does D still wake up at night for feedings?

Yeah, us mommies should post more in this thread  I rarely post here or there but I ALWAYS read both threads all the time.

Anne, so glad to hear everything's resolved with Damion's problem, that must have been a huge scare!

A little bit about my son...his name's Sean, he is 21 months (almost 22) he is a chatter box and always happy! Well unless mom's out of sight for too long...he's used to be with me all the time since we have no family nearby and I don't work. About pacifiers...he never wanted one. I wasn't too fond of them to begin with, but when he was very little we did try it out esp if we were out and he would get upset or something, to try and calm him down, but he never learned how to keep it in his mouth. He'd suck on it in a funny way and eventually lose it and get even madder...so that was the end of the pacifier  I breastfed though so I guess he didn't have the need for it that much, he'd go for the ####### instead

Nizzy, Sean wanted to eat milk at night as well around 12 months... I was worried about it too, but it seems to happen a lot, at least from what I heard from other mommies I talk to. He'll outgrow it as Sean did.

One last thing...Sean's absolutely in love with Elmo...it's Elmo's galore at our house! He wants the DVD on all the time, he cuddles with him and even pretends to rock him to sleep...it's hilarious. And to think he was terrified by him when he was an infant, he'd cry as loud as he could every time he'd see him on anything or anywhere... :P

KJandSH your twins are adorable...needless to say I couldn't tell who's who, they are absolutely identical to me...

Looks like VJ makes really gorgeous babies, all pics I see on here are of absolutely beautiful kids.:luv:

Hope all of you had a great start with the New Year! (F)

churipu: When I hear stories from other moms about how there child sleeps through the night and how Eman should be doing this and that I get worried. I know I shouldn't but I do and then it leads to "oh my gosh I am not good at being a mom!"

AAWWW please don't feel that way! People love to run their mouth all the time and some of them likes to lie too just to make you look worse! Chances are their kids wake up too and maybe they won't tell you on purpose...you'd be amazed! I know exactly how you feel because I tend to be hard of myself all the time and I never know if what I am doing for my baby is the right thing or not if I think too much (and I shouldn't!)...gotta love being a first time parent! Sean still occasionally has nights when he wakes up and doesn't go want to go back to sleep by himself unless I pick him up or rock him or something, but from what I hear from my other mom friends it happens to everyone to an extent or another. Every baby is INDEED different and only you know what's best for him, do not force things on him because other stupid people tell you you're doing wrong. Our doc always tells us to look at our baby and if he looks and acts happy, he is content, grows well etc. it means you're doing an absolutely wonderful job! It's the best piece of advice on parenthood I was ever given...along with the one to trust my instinct because mommy's knows best ;)

Also I wanted to add..Kristi, Sean stopped napping in the morning when he was about 10-11 months old. My friend's baby is 15 months old now and she stopped sleeping twice around the same time, but I suppose every baby is different and it all depends on their schedule. I don't work so Sean tends to have long night sleep (at least 10-12 hours), I don't have to wake him up early to take him to day care or something, so he can sleep in in the morning and for this reason he never gets tired at that time. Also he can sleep as long as he wants in the afternoon for the same reason. In the afternoon he likes to go to sleep shortly after his lunch and he usually naps 2 hours, even 3 at times if he is particularly tired. I also heard of some kids who go well after they turn 1 with their 2 naps a day...

My son is 12 months now and he has slept through the night since he was about 8 months, my oldest slept through the night at 2 months. We also had formula issues and now he only drinks soy milk and we're slowly introducing regular milk (apparently too much soy milk can cause the estrogen levels in boys to increase so you have to be careful). Neither of my boys would take a pacifier but sisters son can't live without it. We give the little guy a small bottle of milk when he goes to bed. He drinks it then sets it aside. My oldest did the same thing. I took him totally off of formula at 10 months because he was throwing up everything (this was the expensive one too...) and put him on soy milk and solids and he hasn't thrown up since.

You are so lucky to have them sleep through the night. The good thing though is that he takes his two naps a day. My Aunt thinks that I should eliminate one nap (the one he takes at 2pm) in order to get him to sleep at night. I tried that but it didnt work. Like JoelsWife said, maybe they will grow out of it when they are like 2! hehe

It's a good idea to try it again every couple of weeks. My oldest no longer naps (he's almost 4) but the baby is good for at least 1 2hr nap. Have you tried moving back his dinner time? We usually give our guy his dinner around 6 - and he's in bed by 7 or 7:30. Something my mom said was that sometimes if you keep them up too late they have a hard time sleeping too. Might it be he's going down too late? In Morocco I hated seeing the kids not going to sleep until 10 or 11 at night, it's way too late for them to be just going down. If Khalil wakes up during the night we usually give him a diaper change and half of a bottle and he's back out. Maybe it would be something to try - or giving him a binky? I know a lot of ppl say no to bottles in bed but at least for us he drinks it and sets it aside (i.e. he doesn't fall asleep with the bottle in his mouth). Our oldest hasn't had any problems with his teeth so if the shoe fits wear it! He also slept better after he was moved to his own room and not in the same room as us. Just some ideas :)

Why did you hate it? :) I was never able to make my son go to sleep earlier than 10 pm anyway, not even when he was very little, he just won't go to sleep period. Regardless if I put him to sleep at 7:30 he'd be up at 4 or 5 am and that would be a big no no for me since I don't work and don't need to be up at crack of dawn. As I said though he just likes to stay up, his schedule is pretty regular, he wakes up around 8:30 am, eats around 12:30 pm, then naps around 1:30/2:00 pm for about 2 hrs, then eats around 7:00/7:30 pm then goes to sleep around 10:30 pm. I like it like that because his dad enjoys his time with him too after work. He never had major sleeping problems other than a couple of exceptions.

I think putting kids to sleep this early is a typical thing for over here in America or at least cultural for some places while it's not for others i.e. Morocco. In Italy for example we do not have dinner before 7:30/8:00 pm which is when most parents are back from work so kids cannot possibly go to sleep that early like most do here, most won't be in bed before 9:30/10 pm. I heard in Spain it's even later than that, I actually saw it with my own 2 eyes when I was there in the past, families would hang out until very very late, simply because their day usually starts a lot later in the morning. And everyone is just fine believe it or not ;) I don't think there's one rule that works better than others, it is just different culture and different habits, therefore different routines. The key is to not have your infant/toddler become overtired and have them have enough hours of rest. :star:

If you really want to try and eliminate one of the 2 naps, I'd go with the morning one, just my opinion of course. If he didn't sleep at all in the afternoon he'd be super-tired by the end of the day and an exhausted infant/toddler DOES NOT sleep well at all, like Amera was saying. I know you wish he'd slept through the night, but trust me...it eventually will happen! :star:
