@Wacken, I hadn't seen the post until just now. Adam doesn't really say anything either but he is a little younger than yuor daughter. I know he understands me. When I ask him "Wie macht der Marty" he starts barking and when I aks him if he wants to go to bed, he starts waving bye bye. He says bye bye and "Ba" for Ball but everything else is just "kikelie??" (that is his word for everything). I don't know if raising kids in two languages makes them take longer to talk but I can imagine since they have to figure out the languages first and then there's two words for everything.

What does your daughters pediatrician say? Are they proposing speech therapy?

I think maybe what was wrong was no contact with other children. Whereas most people don't have a problem with finding other children, we do. No one in my family has had children. When my daughter was born, that was the first child to be born in the family in 19 years and 11 months, so basically an entire generation. She has no siblings, no cousins, no one we know otherwise has children, nor do they have any plans to have any. Our social circle is a children black hole and before very recently, we could not afford to put her in daycare.

The problem seems to have gotten a little better since she started daycare, but still, I don't know much about kids (obviously very limited experience) and this is a learn as I go process. I don't know as it comes up what is normal and what is not. I guess we could take her to the peditrician. The idea actually hadn't occured me because until recently, we have been living very dangerously without health insurance. The last time she was really at the doctor was in 5/2007 for bacterial pinkeye. Since then, she has not been sick at all. If we didn't have to take her to the doctor, we didn't. Beyond that, pretty much all doctors I called refused to accept cash anyway. My situation was a little weird in that my household income was over the limits for state aid, so didn't qualify. I also couldn't afford private insurance. Most of them had huge deducitbles anyway I couldn't afford. One of the times I seriously wondered what I was thinking moving back to the US.
