i just did a very quick search and the average time between NOA2 and interview date for vjers going through london appears to be 100 days...cutting it kinda close, but its certainly possible

best wishes to ya, and remember that part of the process is in your hands...return packet 3 as soon as you can and that will reduce your waiting just a bit!

Wow!! 100 days?? I didn't see that. I really doubt it will actually take that long, but having each step ready and not wasting any time is essential. You're right about that. I'm assuming London will receive the case sometime before the end of the month. And then it's 60 days until christmas. Hmmm. Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Good Luck!

When you send in Packet 3 make sure you enter an anticipated travel date. If you leave it blank or put ASAP, your file will not be prioritized. London is very good about scheduling interviews based on the date you enter in that field. So, I don't think its completely out of the question. Really more depends on how quickly your case gets to NVC. Good luck!

How long is it actually with NVC? I can't remember off the top of my head. Isn't it like a week or so? And what do they do? Just repackage it with necessary forms for particular embassies and ship to beneficiary's country??

Sometimes it can get caught up in further name checks at NVC, but not usually. Often times its at NVC for just a few days. The real issue is how quickly CSC gets it to NVC. There have been a lot of holdups with petitions in that reguard.

Hello,

I am in the same situation...our petition was approved october,10.

We really would love to be together for Christmas...

But, this last month I am reading the timelines a lot, and most part of the cases took more then 30 days just for the case go from USCIS until NVC,

and sometimes NVC can be very fast (few days) but sometimes they took more then 2 weeks to send to the embassy...and there is no rules, can be any country, any case.

I would like very much not be one of this delays cases...nobody deserve all this wait.

Good luck for us! To receive this Visa before Christmas is quite gift!!

:)

We received our NOA2 on Sept. 20th and NVC STILL does not have it. We do have all of our packet 3 paperwork filled out and ready to go and we put Dec. 5th as the travel date, which is probably VERY optimistic on our part. But like you said, Julez, we didn't want to leave it blank. We, as most at this stage in the process, REALLLLY want to be together by Christmas. Fingers, toes and all other crossable appendages CROSSED.

2007:

February - May: extended visit to States, engagement.

5/4: I-129F sent (Texas Service Center, forwarded to California Service Center)

5/11: Petition received at California Service Center.

5/16: Check cleared. NOA1 online (no hard copy received yet)

6/19: NOA1 hard copy arrived FINALLY

7/16: Sent off for Police Certificate (U.K.)

8/22: TOUCHED due to phone call (RFE Trick, was told case wasn't assigned yet)

9/20:APPROVED!!! After 127 days from NOA1 and 139 days from filing date.

10/23: Spoke to Kelly at NVC who said they should have received our petition by now. She advised I send a copy of our NOA2 directly to the NVC office, which I did immediately. :-)

10/26: NVC RECEIVES CASE!

10/30: NVC SENDS CASE TO LONDON CONSULATE

11/1: Consulate receives case in London AND sends out Packet 3.

11/6: Sent Packet 3 to Consulate (we'd downloaded the forms on VJ and had them completed already)

11/22: Appointment for Medical.

2008:

01/08: Interview scheduled for 10 a.m. APPROVED!!!

02/01/08: Stephen comes to America!!!

Question: what form in your packet 3 ask about the travel date? From what I know is the form DS-156 that we take with us until the embassy (packet 4) for the day of the interview..so, how they will know before the schedule of the interview..what day you intent to travel?

I am confused

I spoke to a guy at the london embassy yesterday and he said it should take around 4 weeks for them to recieve our petition, my fiancee talked to the USCIS as we need to change a address on the petition and they said it had left for the NVC and we should expect them to have it in a week or two, but it would be hard to catch it there to change the address. So i think we are gonna try calling every few days to see if we can catch it there, i dont want changing the address at london to slow down the process at all.

What do i need for packets 3 and 4? i have the forms DS-156 and DS-157 filled out, plus the I-i34, i know i need to take a medical examine, and get a police background check, can i apply for them now? or is it best to wait?

As everyone else in our situation must feel right now, we feel so close yet so far, this bit seems to be the most painful.

good luck us, and everyone else

Apply for the police cert immediately!!!!!! It takes up to 40 days to receive it, so you don't want that slowing you down. For London, the police cert is good for 12 months. So, if you get packet 3 before you have the police cert, still check t off on the checklist that the item is complete. I would be shocked if your interview was scheduled before you receive it.
