It's a Jamaican thing, girl. It usually involves a whole lot of smoking and drinking. And, they can do it nearly daily. Usually during the day or rare nights they aren't going out. Don't take it too personally. I've been the only girl in on some of those times and I can tell you they are pretty innocent (picture a bunch of US guys sitting around watching a football game!).

However, my then-fiance always dropped everything for my calls. So, that may be more of a personal thing.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I think you are making a big deal out of it. He could be doing a whole lot of other things besides hanging with the boys. I don't agree that he should be required to drop everything to talk IF you are talking several times a day anyway. Now, if he is always busy with the boys when you call, and rushes off the phone then that's a different matter because you are really not talking...just speaking and hearing each other's voices for a couple of seconds.

You should tell him that you woud like him to step away to speak to you...and then resume his boys time when you get off the phone.

My sweetie will play dominoes and sometimes puts me on speaker phone because I like hearing the rude boy banter...and it makes me feel that I am home for just a little while. He lets me hear him walking through town because I can hear the car horns, the tree frogs and the handcart whistles. I love the commotion in downtown Ochi. He will stand just outside of a party so I can hear the music...it's almost like I'm right there with him. Those are our little date nights. LOL.

Jawi, that's so me too! I love all the sounds in the background, especially the music around town and the tree frogs and crickets at night.

But I would be mad if I called and he was always busy with his boys. I had a boyfriend like that in the military and it did not change when he came home. It got to the point where he was so used to not having a "focused" conversation that I really drifted away from him. So just tell him how its important to you to speak without distraction. But also understand his need to bond with the boys every once in awhile.

exactly my point. Women tend to overanalyze things and see wrong when there is no wrong. No it should not be the norm for him to bond with his boys, or make them a priority over you. But, you don't want him to feel like he is doing something wrong to have outside interests either. You are spot on Marlita!
