Hi everybody.

as I posted before my interview was on Oct 2nd and I was given section 221(g) requested to get a co-sponsor and submit affidivat of support, tax return documents and W-2 for a co-sponsor.well I got a co-sponsor and I'm gonna go tomorrow to the consulate in casablanca tomorrow to submit the documents. my question is how long it may take them to review the doc and issue the visa ?

Has anybody ever been in a similar situation ? please hlp with ur opinion.

I'm not going through Casa, but you might want to have a look at the timelines from Casa here on the forum. If they approve it the file still has to be sent to DOS for security checks.... and Allah only knows how long that is going to take. I think the time frame they give you is anywhere from 3 weeks - 9 months. Then if you are over the 9 months, they tell you up to a year....

Sorry I don't have any good news, but at this point it's just a waiting game. Maby someone else on the board will have some more optimism for you

My husband had to return after the interview with a new court paper and more evidence of communication. Interview was a Tuesday. He returned on the following Monday. The consulate called him only 2 hours later to tell him to bring his passport for the visa the next day.

I wouldn't expect the same timeline for you Yes it could happen, but it could also be longer depending on the time needed to finish any security checks or paperwork. My husband was applying for the K-1 fiance visa. His name is also very Berber and very rare in Morocco and we suspect that might have helped with the security checks. (all speculation)

Take a look at the Immigration Timelines at the top of the page. There are some detailed stats there but you might have to page through to find all the IR1/CR1 petitions.

I'm not sure that's true. Someone can correct me if they know otherwise, but I believe you will need to go through security checks again.

My understanding is that you are correct. I know CR-1 goes through intensie security checks at NVC because this is a immigration visa which gives the adjustment of status even before entry. BUT the consulste is processing this visa and their process is separate from USCIS and what is required at NVC for a cr-1.

In otehr words before casa can approve a visa, it must follow the proceedures.

I don't know about security checks, but I do know that for us, it took all of about 2 days. We filed DCF for a CR1/IR1 visa, and after the interview my husband had to bring in a new birth certificate, police record, marriage certificate with translation, since ours were more than 6 months old. He dropped it off with his passport on a Thursday, and by the following Monday they called him to pick up his visa. But I think our case was a little outside of the norm, all in all. Hope this helps.

I don't think thats correct cuz it doesn't make since.because my case was processed and completed by the NVC and on the day of the interview if I didn't have the co-sponsor problem I would of have my visa by now.so when they required a co-spondor I don't think that means they have to redo the security checks.

It's not a matter of redoing the security checks, its about the consulate completing what is required for it to approve the visa. That aproval is separate from NVC and USCIS.

Casa may have already finished this part and its a matter of reviewing the final paperwork you submitted or their maybe other ends that need to be tied up first. The only answer you can really have is that there is no set time you will know you have your visa in hand.

They can do security checks even with the CR1. My husband had his CR1 interview in June and he was given 221g for administrative processing. It's my understanding that they are doing his AOS at this time since it's CR1. My husband has a very common first name which is Mohammed so I'm sure that's one of the reasons it's taking so long. He was told by the consulate that all we are waiting for is the call from Washington. Hopefully you won't have to wait in AP like we are. Good luck!
