Ireland or Prague vacation suggestions

P and I have been thinking about where to go for our (pre)honeymoon. We are having a religious ceremony/blessing in Germany with his family before coming to the states. Since time constraints and finances once we return to Seattle, not to mention the need for AP, are a factor in having a honeymoon, we're going on one after the blessing. We have been debating Prague or Ireland. Both are appealing to us, but I thought I'd throw out a question for those who have been to either place.

I've been to Ireland, but it was about 10 years ago when I was in college and was more interested in the beer than anything else :)

So, any suggestions or considerations from my fellow VJers is welcome.

We are planning the celebration in July 2008 (I am hoping an entire year is enough time...)

I have not been to Prague, although I can recommend both Budapest and Vienna. But if you decide to go to Ireland, make sure you see the west coast. A lot of people tend to go to Dublin only. Dublin is certainly worth a visit, but make sure you go to Galway city as well as to the Cliffs of Moher which is not too far south of Galway.

I am from Cork City and I suppose I should recommend that too. It is a nice city, but if you do go there, try to see Kinsale south of the city and Cobh to the east. Even though Cotrk City is a great place to visit, both Kinsale and Cobh are far more impressive than the city as is the coastline around them.

Another thing you could consider is the Ring of Kerry in the south west of the country. Some of the views of the mountains there will take your breath away and you cannot get anyone more friendly than someone from Kerry!

@J&D thanks for the recommendations. I've been to the Aran Islands and Sligo, as well as Dublin, but I was only in Ireland for a month (with 2 weeks at Trinity, so really only 2 weeks to travel). We are thinking of just renting a car and going.

Jasman :) Too bad P doesn't drink beer. Now how about mead? Does Prague have good mead?
