I cook some German dishes once in a while so no need for us to go and try our luck at a German restaurant.

Of course Jaegerschnitzel is always on top of my hubby's wish list.

I'm not a big fan of most Bavarian dishes ("Schweinshaxe" are nasty and Sauerkraut no comment.... :dead: and unfortunately that's what most Americans associate with "real" German food), The things I really miss (because I can't find or make them myself here) I wouldn't expect any restaurant in the US to have anyway - like "Flammkuchen", Weisswuerste mit Radi und Brezen, etc.

They actually have Weisswurst in this particular place. Whether those are any good I don't know. Couldn't judge that either as I never had any in Germany. They just don't come across as very appealing seeing that they are so damn pale. Schweinshaxe, on the other hand, or better yet a good Eisbein - there's something I truly miss. Same goes for a good Kasselerbraten. Sauerkraut is something I have quite regularly. It's tasty and healthy. Nani likes Sauerkraut. Even my little baby likes brats and sauerkraut. She had it the first time when she was like 10 months old and she loved it at first bite. Made me so proud. She's my blood. :D

I'm trying to learn some German side dishes. P makes the schnitzel (and does an excellent job, I might add) and he taught me how to make Spaetzle, but it didn't turn out right. His mom will teach me damfnudeln this Christmas, because the package stuff we tried was NASTY.

There's a small German deli here that is run by a German couple. They don't offer full service, but they have wonderful sausage and bread.

A chili dog? Nobody eats chili dogs in Germany.

Wha??? :o Dammit...I even replied to the girl at the counter with, "Vielen Dank, dass Sie Frau, meine Wurst ist größer als diese."

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
