My territory for my job is here, I talk to the locals and they give me tips on the best places. There are actually many german immigrants that live there.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. Even our German teachers avoid Leavenworth because they think it's a little too hokey. I understood from what I've read and heard that it wasn't build on German immigrants, but was rather built as a Bavarian town to boost the economy, but maybe the immigrants came after the restructuring of the town?

Anyway, the food was good, just not totally authentic, imho.

I wonder where they come up with the names for these restaurants/pubs? I haven't been to this one myself yet but a friend recently pointed out that there is this great "old European style pub" in DC... apparently very authentic with a biergarten atmosphere. Since it was the same person who recommended the restaurant that messed up my Schnitzel so badly I don't think the words "authentic" and "great" would apply in this case either...

There are a few German restaurants here in Southern CA. There is one here, called Old Town Village, which looks like a bavarian village (by the way I hate how they always represent Germany in a Bavarian way, I am from the North, so Germany does not look like Bavaria everywhere!!), Anyway, I don't remember the meat I ate there, but I ordered Rotkohl. And it was pretty good, not as good as my grandma's, but better than not having any... There is also a store, where I can get a bunch of german stuff...

OMG, is this for real?!?

(just for the non-German speakers here: "Scheissehaus", roughly translates to "s-h-i-t house" in English, the terminology is all wrong btw)

Not the type of restaurant I would like to eat or drink at - especially with that name....

Bevo Mill is pretty good in St. Louis.

Strassenfest is one of my favorite times of year here.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Ain't that the fcuking truth. Bavaria ain't really Germany to begin with. Just like Texas ain't really America. ;)

not if you ask a bavarian

Why are (MOST) Northern Germans such snobs?

My Dad is Bavarian and not a hillbilly in any way shape or form.

My husband's best friend's wife is from Bremen and she is the MOST tedious snobby P.I.T.A.

I'll take the beauth of Bavaria ANY day.......

On an earth without maps."
