Touched?

I see a lot of your histories and see dates that your applications were "touched". I assume that touched means some part of the processing for your visa occurred. But how did you find out about it? I can't get any information from the California Service Center, or from USCIS when I call. All I get is "Wait till we contact you". Is there some phone number I can call for information?

You should be able to create an account, once an account is created it will let you view the status on line.

"Touched" doesn't necessary always mean that they are actively working on your petition. It generally means that it was physically handled in someway such as moving from one place to another. It could also mean that there was an official customer inquiry on your petition such as if there is a issue and you contact your Senator or Congressman to inquire on your behalf.

Hello Dustin....

To know if you are touched you must first register in the USCIS website, you need to create a login and password. After that you need to enter both of your case numbers (one for your I-129F and for your I-130) to your portfolio. This way helps you track both of your cases. Once you are in the website, there is a section that will show "date last updated"...this is basically what touched means. Anytime that the date changes or anytime your case is updated by USCIS thats when you get a touch.

Just to add to the above - Our files (petitions, etc) have a bar-code assigned/attached-to them - each time something is done with/to them, they are 'wanded' - this records as a date (touch).

There is no history kept (on the USCIS site) of touches - only the most recent Date (touch) is shown so technically a petition could get touched multiple times, but to you (depending on how often you check) may only see one... make sense?

Thank you all for the insight. I'm collecting my complaints into one list so that after the dust settles (ie and my wife is safely here by my side) I'm going to submit all of them. One of my biggest complaints is the lack of status reporting from USCIS. They should be able to tell us (all) exactly where our petitions are in the queue and where they are at in the processing of the queue.
