So hi :goofy:

As some of you know I'm waiting on my divorce papers to begin the K-1 process....

Should we wait a bit after I have them to file or should we just go ahead with it. :dead:

I've been separated from my husband for a year and a half. I met Nick online while I was still living with my ex (My ex and I were living separate in the same house until I finally decided to move back in with my parents)

Nick and I were only friends. The relationship didn't blossom into love until I moved back home.

Will this affect our petition at all? We want to file asap from the time I get my papers...we have everything else in order...just waiting on the divorce.

Thanks so much guys

~Laura :)

I was still legally married (though separated as well) when I met my fiance. We didn't file our papers for almost a year after my divorce, but that was mostly because I wasn't sure I could do another marriage, and a long-distance courtship.

I think as long as you are legally divorced, it won't matter.

Take a LONG look at what you are doing as "Rebound" relationships are famous for not working out!

I doubt a rebound relationship lasts for over a year but thank you for your concern :)

I mailed Claudeth's petition in the date after my divorce was final

Cool Jasman...you rock :)

We met in October last year and my divorce wasn't final until September this year. I think we waited a whole two weeks after my divorce was final just because some paperwork was a bit of a hassle to get done! It doesn't matter, as long as your divorce is final and you're legally free to marry. Heck, if it had been easy and we didn't have to go through all the immigration I would have married him and moved down there the day my divorce was final! :P In fact, it's pretty much what we had planned on doing, UNTIL we found out it wasn't as simple as pack up your stuff and move. ~sighs~

Don't worry about it at all.

I know at my Interview- he asked about Mel's Divorce and said "he hasn't been divorced very long."

I said no- they had been separated for about 2 years and their divorce took a while to finalize.

Aww thanks sweetheart!!!

No, my ex is cool. There has been no animosity between us at all *thankfully!* We don't have any children and we aren't fighting over any possessions, it's just a straight up divorce.

Nick and I definitely are not rebound. My ex and I were emotionally detached from one another for a good 6 to 7 months before I moved out. I had already moved on even though we were living under the same roof.

I didn't take it personally but thank you for being in my corner. :luv:

We can't wait to begin!!! :)

I was thinking the same thing, too. I've heard that about my situation, but considering my ex got remarried a couple of weeks ago, I don't give it another thought. We all know the personal details of our own situations and whether or not we are "rebounding."

Good luck, Laura and let us know how it goes!
