hmm good question. I think there's a surgical procedure to fix it? You might want to ask your doctor. My husband has horrible snoring. Usually, I just rub his chest, he rolls on to his side and quits snoring long enough for me to fall asleep. It's not the best remedy, but it doesn't cost a penny! =) I hope you find what you need!

I have some tips for your Husband here, I found them in a web site ;).

Try to sleep on your side or stomach or raise the head of the bed four to six inches.

If you are overweight, try to lose a few pounds.

Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages prior to bedtime. Never use alcohol as a night cap.

Stop smoking.

Avoid sleeping pills, tranquilizers and antihistamines or any medication that relaxes the muscles.

Don't eat a heavy meal within three hours of bedtime.

If you sleep with someone, ask him or her to wake you or roll you over if you snore.

Gargle with salt water, or use a decongestant to eliminate congestion.

Eliminate any allergens such as dust or feather pillows from your bedroom.

Exercise to improve general physical condition and to lose weight.

Establish regular sleep patterns and get adequate sleep.

Try nasal strips or nasal dilators to keep nostrils open..

Ask your dentist about anti-snoring dental appliances.

If your snoring becomes worse, ask your doctor about the possibility of using a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure machine} to keep breathing passages open.

If none of the above seems to help, talk to your doctor about the many surgical procedures available to control snoring.

I snore very loudly. I have for years. I also had high blood pressure all those years which wasn't controlled very well even with medication. I finally went for a sleep study and found that I have sleep apnea. I was shocked to learn that a large percentage of people that have it don't know it. I now wear a CPAP mask at night and don't snore with it on. My blood pressure is now normal without medication. The high blood pressure was caused by a severe lack of oxygen at night.

Could you please explain the CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure machine), in like what exactly is it? Is it awkward to wear? How can you get one? I'm pretty sure I have sleep apnea as well, because my fiancee worries about me at night, saying it sounds like I stop breathing, or can't breath... that and I snore so loud she has problems sleeping and has to use ear plugs! :( It really makes me feel bad for her, so if I could find an easy solution, short of surgery, I'd love to.

Thanks,

Robert

it's a machine that maintains a specific amount of pressue in your airway. The exact amount of pressure is determined during an overnight sleep study. One end of a hose is connected to the machine and the other end is connected to a mask that covers your nose. You can only get one at a medical supply store and you must have a prescription from your doctor with the pressure requirement.

Oh wow, neat little machine...maybe I will have to go to the doctors.

By the way Jon snores too :P but not half as badly as me :(

I do not drink, so that's not the problem, maybe I should start drinking so that I can sleep soundly hehehe although I think Jon would say something hehehe

Ditto....Again Sister Welch Cake....our households sound the same....:yes:

I usually just say his name, give him a shove and he turns on his side. To get me to stop making noises, he taps me extremely lightly, but it still wakes me and I'm like "what do you want????" I sleep on my stomach though, so I avoid full out window rattling snoring.
