Purchase whatever ticket is cheapest.

:time:

When you say approved, you mean the petition was approved by one of the service centers and has been sent to the embassy or the embassy has issued the visa?

There are some countries that require you to have a round-trip ticket, even if you are coming to the US permanently. I would check with some of the other folks in your regional forum to be certain. Most dont care and a one-way ticket is fine, but some countries are picky. Congrats on the visa! :)

Congratulations! Will you fill in your timeline so we'll have an idea how long the process took for you?

Usually I've found that from Germany to here roundtrip tickets are cheaper, so I just suggest you buy the cheapest ticket. Doesn't matter if it's one way or not.

Yes, I will fill in my timeline. Thanks for the congrats! It's nice to hear from people who are going through, and have gone through what I have. Most people just don't understand what this is all about. Especially the stress of it all. I have joined the USAF and am leaving for basic in november and Alex's Visa is only valid until February, so I'm having to deal with applying for vacation to marry and housing which is difficult to get since I'm not offically married. If only more were as understanding as those who have gone through such a process...

No stress, eh? :)

I got my ticket for Christmas at www.kayak.com It was ~$700. Granted, I have a 9 hour layover in London, but still.

$700! Well, I guess for Holiday traveling that's not that bad. I was searching for one way, and have found several for under $500. A 9 hour layover in London should be nice...if you get out of the Airport and see a little. I always had long layovers in Chicago and just slept at my gate...sometimes I wish I would've gotten out to see a little more.

Wow...you retired from the Air Force! I'm getting ready to leave for basic in a few days...Well, I wouldn't worry about the request for evidence. I received one as well, and all they wanted was a passport style photo of me. It really was no big deal.
