Yesterday I went to the doctor and she asked me if I smoke and if I want to quit. So she told me about Chantix and that it doesn't mess with your head, etc and, since I can have it for free, I said why not? I've been planning on quitting for so long, I know I have to quit, I just wasn't doing anything about it.

So today, October 13th 2007 I'll quit smoking. I know I can do it. Next is try to convince my hubster to do the same.

Good luck !

My husband was a heavy smoker 1 1/2 packs per day, he diecided to quit and has not smoked in 15 months, he used the nicotine gums for a while. I did not smoke that much but don't smoke around him. I haven't smoked in the last 4 weeks :innocent: Keep trying you will feel a lot better and you will save a lot of $$$.

Wow that's really awesome!

Here are a few things that helped me:

whyquit.com <----thanks to Caro (JVKn`CVO)

http://www.quitmeter.com/ <----this gave me a lil boost everyday seein the cigs I didn't smoke add up. Unfortunately, ya can't put it in yer siggy cos dynamic pages aren't allowed.

Everyone in the thread constantly telling me I could do it, everyone sharing his/her 'I quit' story....

Having the thread to vent on my own, hahahah.

You are gonna do so well, Nessa...this is not beyond you at all. I think that's what scared me into not quitting for so long...thinking 'omG this is bigger than me, I don't have the strength'....well, I did. You do too!

Yay a new smoking thread! So excited for you!

Congratulations Nessa! Making the decision is half the battle.

Today is my 1 month no smoking anniversary. At a pack and a half a day that's about $180. I think I'll go buy myself a new toy to celebrate.

Woot!! Way to go!!! Chantix is great stuff. I couldn't have stopped without it. My doctor told me to slowly build up with the medicine and stop smoking when I was taking 2 1mg pills a day. He said to not try to stop until then. Did yours tell you that?

You can doing it Nessa! You're so beautiful and cigarettes ruin more than your lungs! Trust me, my english tutor back in Brasil looked much older than she was, she was the type to light one cigarette at the end of another and she was ALWAYS smoking. Her skin and teeth were severely compromised and she smelled like ashtray ALL the time.

I was lucky to quit before I got a serious addiction to it, stopped when I was 22.
