The website for USCIS says that they are overloaded with applications, and that initial receipts are being sent out later than normal. Up to 14 weeks it says! Before they even acknowledge your petition!!!! YIKES!! They are only now processing August's applications.

Does this mean that it will be 2 or 3 months before the process even begins???

I'm curious what experience other K-1 petitioners are having--those who sent their I-129f in September and October...Particularly those applying at the California Service Center.

Have you guys got your receipts yet???

Thanks for putting in your 2 cents, best of luck for everyone!

Most of the time it takes during the petition process is with your case waiting in a queue. Processing takes about 15-30 minutes for most cases when they finally get to it.

But then the posted date is overestimated. You can look at the timelines on this website to get an idea how long it will take for your petition to be processed.

I think its up to about 5 months or so wait time right now.

If you're just waiting on NOA1, I would expect it by the end of the month. According to the USCIS Ombudsman confrence call yesterday, they brought on extra staff and are working overtime to make sure everyone is rcpt'd by the end of October.

And even fewer September CSC filers have received ours! :ranting:

Congrats on those who have received NOA1 though, it's at least somewhat comforting to know that the process isn't at a complete standstill. :)

I know! I read in the September Filers Post that people are mad about that.

I do want to feel guilty ... I really do ...

But I'm too relieved to!

Having said that, give it another 150 days or so and the early NOA1 will be a distant memory!

As long as you know they have your case try not to stress about the NOA1. You could get NOA1 and NOA2 together and it wouldn't matter as long as you have your NOA2 so your case can move on towards NVC and the consulate.

Woo hoo!!!!

Just looked at my bank account and the check has been cashed!

Does that mean we already have a NOA1?

I know there's some number to put into the USCIS system but its unreadable on my check....

I will be getting something in the mail, right?

(Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions, I really do read this forum ALOT but I'm still confused)

I'm happy it means things are on track though, now, they can't just take my $455 and do nothing haha!!!!

You will have NOA1 in a few days presuming your address was correct. You can get your case number from that, if you cant get your case number off your check.
