Hi,

I did my greencard interview at the Barbados consulate and had my case approved. I've sent my passport to the consulate for visa printing. (I assume it's the temporary visa that I've been reading about.)

I'm confused as to what happens when an approved greencard applicant first immigrates to the USA on the temporary visa. Please help me clarify this.

I read on another website that the applicant will be given a sealed packet to be presented to the immigration officer at the US point of entry. Is that the standard procedure for all consulates? Do they inform the applicant as to what to do regarding travel to the USA when the passport is returned?

Two separate posts here offering slightly different accounts of the point of entry procedure:

One went through the non US-Citizen line at LAX, gave the packet, answered a few questions, fingerprint/pic etc.

The other (in Miami) spoke to an immigration rep and was directed to the US Citizen line and then completed the packet/fingerprint procedure at a separate area.

Oh, do I have to fill out any immigration forms?

Miami is the planned POE and my mother (USC & my petitioner) will be traveling with me. I'm a bit worried and knowing what to expect helps.

Looking forward to your replies,

Peridot
