I am hoping someone can please help us.

I just called the NVC since it has been 5 weeks since our NOA2 approval for the I-129F from the CSC.

The customer service rep said that the reason it has probably not been sent is "because you have to file an I-130 as well and that our case is probably being held up until we submit an I-130."

WHAT IS THIS??? I FOLLOWED ALL THE DIRECTIONS AND GUIDES AND NEVER SAW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS IN THE I-129F PROCESS. WE EVEN GOT OUR NOA2.

Please tell me they are mistaken - help!

Are you already married and filing for a K3 visa or are you looking to bring your fiance over? If you're not married yet then there is no need to worry, the person that you talked to has no idea what they're talking about.

If you ARE married already though, you did need to file the I-130. I hope this helps.

According to some agents you speak to at the USCIS, it's now taking up to 60 days from the point of approval to leave the CSC for the NVC.

Unfortunately you ended up with the wrong information. Perhaps something you said, confused the representative. The only question you need to ask initially is if they have your case. If they don't have it, conversation over. If they do have it, the ask the status or if the name check is completed. If they tell you the case is complete and forwarded to the Consulate, ask for the date it was approved for forwarding. If you ask them other questions, they are likely to guess wrong in an effort to be helpful.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous
