But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I just finished the Harry Potter series, not bad even if they are supposed to be for kids :P I am just starting to read "Last Go Round" but am not sure if I like it.

I loved Tom Clancy and Steven King so believe you can't go wrong there either :thumbs:

I'd recommend:

- any Dan Brown book;

- "The Arthur Books" trilogy by Bernard Cornwell (The Winter King, Enemy of God and Excalibur);

- "The Grail Quest" trilogy by Bernard Cornwell (Harlequin, Vagabond and Heretic);

* Mind you Bernard Cornwell books are all about barbaric wars in medieval Europe, the first trilogy being about King Arthur, even though he's no King in the book, and the second trilogy being about a british Archer in the Hundred Year War between England and France.

- "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass);

* This one is a fantasy book and although I am a huge Potter Fan I thought this was better than the HP series, since it's more adult in some senses.

- "Ramses" series by Christian Jacq (The Son of the Light, The Temple of a Million Years, The Battle of Kadesh, The Lady of Abu Simbel, Under the Western Acacia);

- "The Stone of Light" series by Christian Jacq (Nefer the Silent, The Wise Woman, Paneb the Ardent, The Place of Truth);

* These books were very interesting to me since they gave me an insight into Egypt in the pharaonic period, especially about details of the culture, habits, and their technology and skills. It is written as fiction and romance though, although the author is a historian specialized in Egypt.

- "Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley (this is a classic);

I also read Outlander and it was great indeed.

Reading is amazing, I LOVE it. I started reading for good when I was 11, it was my first time reading a book that wasn't a school requirement (even though I liked those too) and the first time reading a thick book. It was "It" by Stephen King and after that one I just didn't stop reading.

I forgot to mention that "The Kite Flyer" is also amazing. Oh, and "Life of Pi".

If you like/tolerate sci-fi or fantasty try the Wizard of 4th Street series by Simon Hawke. And in the general weirdness category try The Thief of Always by Clive Barker. I prefer something intellectually stimulating, such as the Richard Scarry Dictionary.

Hmm, sounds like you've been browsing through our bookshelves! . . . I LOVE the Dark series by Pullman - absolutely incredible! I also enjoyed "Wicked" and the sequel "Son of a Witch".

If you like classics - try Jane Austen - I am a big Jane Austen fan - Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Persuasan, Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey - they are all enjoyable reading and easy to get into.

If you like light hearted mysteries you could try "The Cat Who . . . " series - there are many, many of them about a newspaper reporter who inherits millions of dollars and solves mysteries with his siamese cats; If you like serious mysteries, try Kathy Reichs books - they are the ones the TV series 'Bones" is based on about a forensic anthropologist.

So, what genre do you like? Me, I've seldom met a book I didn't like!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
