Based on our discussions in the other thread I think its perfectly reasonable to use a nuclear bomb as a coffee table. Because its only a weapon if I set it off.
and on the plus side, if you have crappy shielding, it will keep your coffee warm too

And your room well lit.

How is requiring a license taking away the right to own a gun? And take that further out - if we are to take the 2nd Amendment literally, where do you draw the line in terms of kinds of weaponry a citizen can own for their perservation?
steven, your answer is right there in your first sentence, i bolded it for you.
Do I have the right to own a nuclear weapon?
i suppose if you can afford one, you can also afford to buy your own country. check out sealand, i hear it's for sale.
That won't work, Chuck. See the second amendment doesn't exactly extend beyond the US borders. Steven's going to put that baby in his backyard. :P
true, i suppose he could always buy a nuke and a country and make his own constitution.

or just run for president :D

Well, that constitution won't matter much. There is such a thing as a non-proliferation treaty out there. Even those not party to it are getting heat from all directions when trying to acquire a piece. Not sure that Steven on a lonely island could stand up to all that. He'll be better off pushing for his right to protect his home with a nuke throiugh the courts right here in the good ole' USofA. Imagine how safe a place this would be if everyone had a little nuke to protect himself.
oh you mean steven might just get inspected by the un?

They'd be up his azz, man. It's ugly.

and then there is.......omg..........the global war on steven!

lisa might like that

and yes i knew about the non-proliferation treaty, but steven's obviously not a signatory to it.

I just wanna know if you'll defend my right as a citizen, to own a nuclear weapon or not?

I'm using the most extreme example of owning a weapon which you agree is absurd. Now the issue is finding middle ground - by recognizing that we must use logic and reason with interpreting the 2nd Amendment and not pretend we can just take it for face value. The question is - when does ownership of a weapon become too extreme - beyond the reason of the intent and purpose of the 2nd Amendment?

actually, it's a moot point since while you've been busy acquiring a nuclear weapon, i've parked a klingon dreadnaught in earth orbit and blasted all nuclear weapons.

now when you're ready to come back to the real world, lemme know ;)

Aye, Charles...duck and dodge, duck and dodge. Just tell me what is and isn't a reasonable method of a person exercising their 2nd Amendment right? I'm not trying to trap you, I'm trying to find middle ground on what we can agree on. I fully support the 2nd Amendment but waiting for you to acknowledge that you can't simply take it for face value - some logic and reason is involved given the ambiguity of the 2nd Amendment.

George W. Bush on Gun Control:

Government should pay for voluntary trigger locks

Bush said Texas will spend about $1 million a year for five years to purchase trigger locks, which would be distributed to citizens who asked for them at police stations and fire departments. “It seems like to me one of the things we ought to do is be common-sensical about how we deal with gun safety,” Bush said. “And if I become the president, I’m going to ask Congress to appropriate money for a national program to do just the same thing, which is distribute trigger locks for people to use.” Bush proposed that the federal government make $325 million in matching funds available over five years for state and local governments that adopt programs similar to the Texas program. Until recently Bush had opposed mandatory trigger locks and ridiculed rival Sen. John McCain during the South Carolina primary for switching positions on the issue and voting for an amendment to the Senate’s juvenile justice bill that made trigger locks mandatory.

Maybe Bush should of used Trigger locks over in Iraq.....

Then maybe not so many americans would of died
