Actually, this question is about travel after a green card, but there is not topic for that. If this doens'nt belong here, please move it to the appropriate forum.

I just got screamed at because I bought tickets to Ukraine in our name, Kreider. Nadaya says she will not be able to travel because she has a Unrainian passport as Ankusheva but the ticket says Kreider. Obviously her green card says Kreider and we should take along the the marriage certificate just in case. So,

Do I have to change her ticket to Ankusheva?

Will we need the marriage certificate along with the green card to get back into the states?

TIA

Good question,

I am faced with the situation with my wife, her passport is in her maiden name. Our plan is to take our marriage certificate and any document we have received from USCIS (she just got her AP, just waiting for it to come in the mail), although we will be driving across the border to Canada not flying as in your case.

For the airlines you will need to have Photo ID for whatever name is on the ticket, the marriage license should explain to any immigration official why the traveler's name is different from the passport.

Sincerely,

Ramos

The name that should be use in issuing ticket for travel is the name that is written in his/her passport. If her passport that she gonna use is in her maiden name, ticket should be in her maiden name unless she got her passport renewed in her married name.

We just got back from vacation to our home country, I paid our tickets in my married name because that's my name on my credit card, but I request to issue the ticket on my maiden name because that's my name printed on my passport that I'm going to use coming out in US and coming in the Philippines Immigration and when i get back to US I only used my greencard for the Immigration married name. This coming December we're going to go back to our home country, but this time I'm using my married name because I just recently renewed my Philippine passport in my married name. I used our marriage certificate and greencard in Philippine Immigration to show that we're married so my husband wouldn't pay anymore visa fee.

That's the policy of the airlines ticketing, the marriage certificate and greencard could "only" be used in US Immigration when you get back and also, you will show your greencard to your home country Immigration before they let you pass the Immigration counter.

Goodluck!

if it is possible and is easy to do I would change the name on the ticket...

you are always supposed to book the tickets in the name used in the passport....

Live and learn. It is not a mistake I will repeat!

I called LOT and was told that they can/would not reissue, but that this happens all the time and if we have the marriage certificate along, all will be okay. I asked twice and got the same answer both times.

Thanks for the replies.

Hi,

I just got married to U.S. citizen and Im originally from the Czech Republic. My Green Card application is still pending and I have a question that I need an answer for. My husband and I would like to go to Czech Rep. next year to visit my family but the problem is my passport will expire next year on July and I need to renew it. Where do I go to renew it? Will they give me another czech passport with NO visas, just the passport with my new name on it? Or will they give me american passport? Also, do I have to wait untill I receive the Green Card to apply for a new passport? How long will I wait for the passport?

Thank you for your reply.
