I know many people go through an AOS Interview and many people don't.

Is there any reason to who does have to go for an Interview and reason for those who don't?

We have file AOS and I am waiting for approval- I have no idea whether or not we will have to do an AOS interview or not.

I've been trying to figure that out also.

Don't think it's the paperwork submitted as I saw one person who claimed they got the GC without interview and they failed to submit their taxes with the application!

May be something to do with how busy local centers are and they approve a few without interviews for that office to take the load off!

Looks like a ####### shoot any way you look at it.

Stacey33, ah fond memories. You were my welcomer to VJ... so thank you. Without your kind words Pushbrk would have scared me off into oblivion (Canada... actually)

There is no rhyme or reason to who gets or does not get an interview as far as I have seen. I have even tried to look at local office trends.. there aren't any. I think it is sort of luck of the draw.

You and I have a similar timeline on AOS, but I got an RFE that took 45 days to send in, so chances are you will get your notice before me. I'll be watching your signature closely. :)

I am hoping my AOS goes very slowly- June 15 will be our 2nd Anniversary- if my greencard is issued after that date I am eligible for a 10 year card.

I am starting to stress about the AOS interview. I don't know if we have enough evidence- we don't share much as a married couple. His grandparents left him this house and my name will never be on it, most of his bills household wise still are in his grandfathers name. He has been dead for several years!

I am on his health insurance and we have a simple joint bank account. The bills don't come out of this account. This account is pretty much for my use only- groceries and personal use.

I think he did finally put me on the car insurance too.

But that is all we have.

I have no idea how they do it. For a while a lot of people getting transferred to CSC were not having interviews but am not seeing that so much now but that may be due to the backlog.

Doesn't take a whole lot to have your name put on bills and for hubby to make a will. A life insurance policy is easy also!

If hubby doesn't want you to face being deported he better get his act together!

More ammo the better.

And what's the reason for the laziness? :D

These are simple things you can get done with a phone call. Why have you not changed the name on the bills yet?

It's also easy to deposit money into the joint account and use it to pay bills.

Get it done!

It's almost exclusively K-1s who do not get interviewed. I know eau_explain was a B2 who got transferred to CSC, but most K-3s, B2,s F1s, VWP etc get interviewed. That's a trend that *I've* noticed but otherwise it's a crapshoot.

As for both names on all the bills - we didn't do any of that. Who has bills in two names? It's a weird request, and we got approved with mail coming to the same address, a joint bank account, authorized user on my credit cards for him, and I think that was it. We have a little more now...and we'd only been married 4.5 months when we had our interview...

Uh, the bills really need to be put into a live person's name. Utilities companies will tell you you can't have a dead person responsible for the bills... (ask me how I know...)

It mainly depends on how busy your local office is. If they have a backlog then you've a good chance of a CSC transfer. You'll then more than likely be approved without interview. This doesn't mean your approval will be swift though, some people here are still waiting at least a year after transfer.

If your local office is not too backed up then you'll get transfered there and will be scheduled an interview. You'll then be approved pending name check or, if your name check has come back, you'll just be approved. :D

I agree that it is probably a good idea to get your name on a few more things. I had saved all the post that had come addressed to me, I had magazine subscriptions, health insurance cards, joint bank account and a couple of utility bills. We didn't need them in the end as we were transferred to CSC, but even if you get that transfer, you will more than likely need these things for removing conditions - they like to see stuff spanning the entire marriage, not just the few months before the interview.

Thanks everyone for the advise!!

My case has been to transferred to CSC. Both my AOS and my EAD are there, pending.

Then you probably won't have an interview unless you get transferred back to a local office.

Okay, then the chance of interview is slim, although some CSC transferrees can then get transferred from CSC to their local office for interview. It's still a great idea to start getting your name on as much as possible, that way you won't have a mad panic rush on when you realise that time has slipped away and nothing is done! :P
