I hate that people celebrate on different days. We will have family from other countries calling wishing a Happy Eid and we're like...nope it's tomorrow for us! Whenever it is that you celebrate...EID MUBARAK to all!

According to the FIQH Council, Eid Al Fitr is Saturday for North America.

See that is what I never get.

If someone genuinely spotted the crescent moon in Saudi, wouldn't it stand to figure that when our side of the globe gets to that spot we'll see it as well?

I think it's just resulting from different methods of determining when the new moon is. I guess that if you go based on observation, Eid would be tomorrow. But based on prior calculations (you know how you can see the new moon dates on a standard calendar), Eid is Saturday.

I hate using this prof I had as an example so much, but he had a great story about neighboring villages in India celebrating Eid at different times because the local mosques held that the imam had to *see* the moon, not go by the calendar, and it was foggier in one town than in the next, and in the next town they had a younger cleric with sharper eyes. :)

lol...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Since you'll be having that German beer while I'm in Addis, you shouldn't have any trouble accomplishing this soon.

My Paki friend did this time around. He lost quite a bit, actually.

Took him to the airport today - he'll be spending the weekend with his folks up north.

And yes, I took him well ahead of time. He doesn't seem to be able to get through security quickly.
