Nope. I've been working as a scientist in industry for the past 20 years. Nice try try to dismiss me, though. I admit to be a partisan for furthering public understanding of how the scientific process works.

You mean swaying the public is your job? What you gonna do about china,India, and the rest?

Nope, my jobs in industry have been in R&D and product development, comercialization, manufacturing plant support, etc., and I'm proud to have developed products in the automotive and energy sectors that have been sold worldwide to improve air quality and energy consumption.

Now, for sure, China, India and other developing nations are going to have to come to the table in future if greenhouse gas emissions are to be stabilized. The USA, unfortunately, is not in a good position to bring them there, given our refusal to enter into Kyoto. The European community and the Russians have more stroke here, too. Perhaps that will occur with the treaty that comes after Kyoto.

For that matter, Brazil also has some good influence in this connection, given their very successful biofuels programs, domestically. As you probably know (I notice your spouse is from Brazil), Brazil is becoming a green energy exporter, and is now supplying Japan with renewable ethanol for Japan's auto fleet. I'm sure the Brazilians would love to enter our domestic fuel markets, but tariffs regrettably keep them out.

Supreme Court Gives Gore’s Nobel to Bush

Stunning Reversal for Former Veep

Friday, October 12: Just hours after former Vice President Al Gore received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts on global warming, the United States Supreme Court handed Mr. Gore a stunning reversal, stripping him of his Nobel and awarding it to President George W. Bush instead.

For Mr. Gore, who basked in the adulation of the Nobel committee and the world, the high court’s decision to give his prize to President Bush was a cruel twist of fate, to say the least.

But in a 5-4 decision, the justices made it clear that they had taken the unprecedented step of stripping Mr. Gore of his Nobel because President Bush deserved it more.

“It is true that Al Gore has done a lot of talking about global warming,” wrote Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for the majority. “But President Bush has actually helped create global warming.”

Even as Mr. Gore was being stripped of his Nobel, he received strong words of support from Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who said that the former vice president’s Nobel win “shows that he is devoting his life to the right thing and should definitely stay the course.”

In an interview with reporters in Iowa, Sen. Clinton said that “Al Gore should remain dedicated to the cause of global climate change, at least through November of 2008.”

Sen. Clinton suggested that Mr. Gore could further research the source of global warming by immediately boarding a rocket ship to the sun.
