Hi everyone,

I must say great site. Good information and good "love" stories here.

I recently got married to someone here on an F1 VISA.

I've been reading through the site, and I believe I know the procedure, but I just want to make sure with all the experts here as to possibly expedite the process and not cause any complications.

First step is to apply for I-485 (AOS) and I-765 (EAD), for a green card and employment.

I-131, for foreign travel back to China.

Now how/where do I go schedule for the medical exams. I'm assuming that's the biometrics that everyone is referring to?

Also, what about the name change? The marriage certificate is under her maiden name. Should we fill out the name change forms after everything is done?

Thanks in advance! :)

Also need to file I-130

Medical exam and biometrics are different... boimetrics is fingerprinting, etc....

Apply in her current legal name...

YMMV

You need to file I-130 along with I-485, I-765 and I-131. You can always file I-485, I-765 and I-131 after you file I-130, but you can't do it the reverse order. The purpose of I-130 is to justify for the eligibility of your spouse to become a permanent resident in the US. They won't approve your I-485 unless you file your I-130 along. The logic is as your purpose of form I-485 is to adjust your spouse' status to permanent resident, how can you prove to USCIS your spouse qualify to apply for permanent resident status without an I-130 being filed in proving the relationship (which require a copy of the marriage certificate in your case)?

For the medical, you need to do it at one of the authorized medical office off the USCIS web site. You can download the list of medical offices form the USCIS web site. Pick an office that is close to you, and call to mak an appointment. The result will be ready within 2 to 3 days. Mail the medical report along with your I-485. And the fingerprint you have to wait till your I-485 filed and received by MSC, and then they'll send you a notice to do the fingerprint at their scheduled time.

OK, so the first step is to schedule a medial exam at an authorized facility off the USCIS site. What's the exam called?

Then complete, I-130, I-485, I-765, and I-131. Can I send everything in together, or do I need to send the I-130 with medical exam results first, and then send the I-485, I-765 and I-131?

Do I need to send in an I-134 (Affidavit of support)?

Sorry for all the questions. I want to make sure it's all done correct the first time.

Thanks!

For the medical surgens, you can try the locator at the following link:

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of...office_type=CIV

or call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 to obtain by telephone the names and phone numbers of the designated civil surgeons in your area

The medical is for form I-485, not I-130. Go to the followign link to obtain most current version of all forms and their instruction.

I suggest you send everything together for faster processing. And yes, you'll need to file the affidavit of support form, which is one of the requirement of form I-485. I filed form I-864 for affidavit of support, not I-134. I don't know the difference. You may want call the 1-800 # to make sure that's the right form you should be using to file. Or you can consult a lawyer.
