Geez, I cant think of anything more helpful than having the worst president in recent history, dancing around the globe bad-mouthing his own country. I think the boy has resentment issues.

Jimmy Carter is an idiot. He isn't in the loop any more and has no more information than anyone else.

President's Daily Brief

Former Presidents are entitled to receive the PDB, if they so desire, only after the sitting President actually receives his daily briefing.

THe PDB, if he gets it, would not detail how we conduct interrogations. So on the subject of torture he is an idiot and has no more information than anyone else. Carter is a first class chopfukc.

Carter is a first class chopfukc.

As a RINO (republican in name only), since the chopfukc's in office are not the republican party as it is meant to be, I have to disagree. I agree with MANY of his statements, including ####### Cheney being one of the worst "things" to ever happen to America.

Your blindness to reality is hilarious Gary. Really.

Are you claiming people would be okay with their citizens being abducted, shipped to other countries and tortured as long as no American talked negatively about it?

How would they find out about this? You think America is the only country that does this. The only difference is that they do not have a NYT and co reporting what they do 24/7.

You wouldn't notice if your brother or father had been abducted and then dumped in a foreign country unless the NYT told you? There are no other newspapers in the world? Maher Arar was all over the news in Canada and a blip here. Pull the other one, it's got bells on.

Some of your are adamant about making an extremely hard, all most impossible, job even harder for them. So they cannot tap calls, they cannot interrogate people, they cannot capture people for interrogation. What method of prevention is basically left for them to use? Telepathy, a time machine??

I love your non sequiturs. They are permitted to tap calls, interrogate and capture people. They are not permitted to disappear people with no evidence and no due process. They have to follow the law.

that's the only thing they need to do to stop the 'outrage from the liberals'.. just follow the law.. simple.. others don't do it? other countries are not America..

This statement leaves me not wondering the same about you,but knowing. Choose your words wisely young one for they will surely show more of the same.

hardly insulting, that would apply to just about anyone on vj.

now if you said we'd have difficulty filling a postage stamp, that's another matter ;)

Nobody seems to really care in the US whether or not the CIA or any of the US Intelligence agencies conducts illegal acts of torture in the so called war on terror, even though people on the whole are well past fed up with the obvious lies coming out of the White House, its still going to continue since we let it happen.

Carter's shocking revelations shouldn't surprise anyone- independently of what side of the fence one looks at it... no surprise to know a lie from Washington as its no surprise to support the torture of individuals (even though completely innocent in some cases) as long as they're not in our backyard. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

History tends to revisit past fumbles... some people just like to bend these fumbles to suit their particular hand of cards. I prefer to stick with what is truth and unfortunately, that is a very strange commodity that is not very clearly seen anywhere. Nor sought in earnest.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

As a former Prez, I think he PROBABLY has a damn good grasp of what we do & don't do Gary...

He will face a lot of flack by making this public, you don't think he thought about that before he spoke?

And then people wonder why so many call the left anti-American. This sort of ####### does not help America's reputation overseas.
Actually, being able to take critical look in the mirror and openly say what you see (or think you see) is one of the things that people like about America. There are many countries in the word where such thing would land you in jail. We and the rest of the free world are typically admired for our freedom of speech.
People overseas don't view it as open honesty though. To them these incidents reinforce their view of who do these guys think they are to teach us about honesty and democracy, when they are so corrupt.

Bullshite! What do you know about people that live in not-so-free societies and what they admire about the free world? I tell you what you know about them: Jack Shite!

The value of being able to freely speak one's mind and to expose the wrongdoing of those in power without the fear of persecution is largely underestimated by those that have the luxury not to know what it's like to get locked up for the crime of speaking up.

Well, sometimes it starts with the wrongfully abducted and tortured filing a complaint. That's how Khaled El-Masri's case became public. It wasn't any American talking about it until other governments did their investigations and started to demand some answers.

Absolutely so.

Problem is... too many blindly rely on this supposed right by shutting up those that practice this right in condemning the practice of shutting people up by those sworn to uphold the very freedom to speak and legally express oneself...

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
