With my first fiancee we stayed at the Ukraina. The last time I was there it was $ 138 a night but winter may be cheaper. It is a short walk to the embassy, cross the bridge, go one more block, turn right and the embassy is on the left. I would say a 10-12 mintue walk.

There is an apartment a friend manages that is two - three blocks from two metro stations, near stores and restaurants, very close to MOM for a medical and in the same general part of town as the embassy. ( I think one metro stop). It is first floor and very secure and a decent apartment. My fiancee stayed there for her interview. It is $ 100.00 a night If it is of any interest I can send you the contact info. I have no concection with it.

Yes, please send me the contact info. Thanks!

I will be renting a flat in Krasnoyarsk because her college age son will be in her flat...so for privacy and so forth we decided to rent a flat in her city. The best flat that is reasonably priced she could find is an apartment on the FIFTH FLOOR! No elevators of course. It will be really fun getting my luggage up 5 floors. I wonder how old people in Russia handle climbing so many stairs? Even some hotels are bad. When we met in St. Petersburg, the hotel was on the 4th floor of a historic building.

Maybe that's why Russian women have such nice bodies...it's all that exercise!

Hee-hee  Oh, privacy! We rented apt in E-burg too. The first and the last day we were spending without my daughter. All other days every evening we were on duty - honey, go and check her, may be she has already fell asleep?

Fifth floor - wow, is it khruschovka? (apt building built during Khruschov's time) For seniors it's the worse thing you can imagine - everything higher than the third floor is a good exercise even for healthy young person. That's why if they can they move on a lower floor.

And you are right about shape. In Russia people walk a lot, don't eat that much, women try to keep their shape as long as they can. I don't walk 2-3 hours everyday any more, my longest walk is 40 mins - to my daughter's school and back, maximum twice per day. And I put on weight 11 pounds  But before I lost 8 duringvisagetting stress last year  So, if you want your darling to stay in a good shape - don't buy her a car

You might want to look into Russian Girl Friday too. I haven't ever used her, but I've heard good things. I've corresponded with her a couple times, and will probably wind up using her to help with lodging and logistics when my Nadya goes for her interview.

I'll give two big thumbs up to Olesya's services. She was very professional with me and fit exactly what my wife needed for the interview stay in Moscow.

And none of the cheeseburgers!

When I went to Moscow, I stayed in an apartment near Belorussia Metro station and it was within walking distance of the embassy, the zoo, Pushkinskaya Metro, and really not too too far from the Kremlin/Red Square. We were only a few blocks off of Tverskaya-Yamskaya, on the embassy side. I rented it through Moscowapartments.com and they really weren't too bad. A bit pricey, but from what I've heard, not too outrageous, especially when compared to the hotels.

However you book your accomodations, I highly recommend using a site that has a completely web-based profile where you can view photos of the flat you'll be staying in and also an updated schedule of availability.

I know you can't be too sure of your exact dates just yet, but the sooner you can book an apartment, the better. If you wait until right before your trip to try to find a hotel, you're going to get slaughtered on the price.

Edited: And as Satellite is always reminding us.... have your S/O check the classifieds in the back of the newspapers to find something offered at "local" prices.

Alfa, betta and delta are chain of hotels located at metro izmailovo.Normally it does not even require booking since they have bunch of space, but I would still call, just in case.yes that hotel is not that bad at all.you do not have to stay specific on that metro station its right in the centre-i mean the embassy.

As long as it is in moscow you always can travell by metro or cab-around moscow 300rubles..it will take around 1 hour or so.

try to call some agencies they have better deals than actual hotel web page.
