Affidavit of Support/ Documents on AOS interview, necessary?

Hi all!

I hope someone could help me with this.

I received my interview appointment yesterday on mail, and it was stated there that my sponsor should bring Affidavit of support, recent income tax returns and W-2's. Is this necessary? I mean we've already submitted those on our application for AOS already, but still they included it in our checklist. If this is the case, would a photocopy of all those be good enough? or should we provide all the originals?

Thanks so much!

It is recommended to bring the originals of everything submitted, the interviewing officer can request to see anything that you sent them, who knows what may have been misplaced.

You dont want to go to the interview, and get asked for something only to tell the IO that you left it at home, and then having the IO tell you that you are being rescheduled to bring in the requested document.

In our case we have a small file box with everything in it from the very beginning I-129F all the way through I-485.

Since the originals of what the OP is referring to for the most part is on file with the IRS, the best they could do, short of transcripts, is a photocopy...

YMMV

I always state originals, as per USCIS recommendations so that others don't send their originals to the government.

USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

At the discretion of the officer, original documents may still be required in individual cases.

Understood, but in the situation of your Form 1040, you do in fact send the origianl to the IRS.. hard to get around that one regardless of what the USCIS recommends.....

YMMV
