Hey Guys...

So my sweetie and I are getting everything together to file our I-129F for our K-1 Visa...

It says that in our affidavit for marriage we could put that we are planning on getting married such and such date, depending on approval.

We were thinking next September. Now my question....If we file in November 07 and we put September 08...will that just give them an excuse to hold back and process other files that have a sooner wedding date? So if we put that we are planning on getting married in June 08...would they work a bit harder to get it completed before that time?

I'm sure the date probably has nothing to do with the process time but I just wondered anyhow.

Thanks so much,

Laura :)

Hello. You are right, the date has nothing to do with the process. It doesn't matter if you put tomorrow's date, a date next year, or ten years from now. It won't make them move any faster. I don't remember what part you are referring to on the form. I never put any kind of anticipated wedding date. Best of luck to you in this process.

How about "within 90 days after arival to the USA"

LOL, I think if it were as simple as putting a date on the form would make our case move faster we would have all done that. I wish it were that simple (sigh)

Thanks Safiya..lol that's what I thought.

It's not on the actual form..I was just going to put it in the affidavit that I write with the intent to marry. I wanted to change the title of this post but it wouldn't let me.

Thanks so much!

I assume you are talking about the statement of intent to marry. In that case, what they need to know is that you intend to comply with the requirement that you get married within 90 days of arrival in the US on the visa. It is probably okay to give a tentative wedding date, but make sure you also specify that you intend to get married within 90 days of his arrival whenever that may be.

Also--you probably know this, but just in case--make sure that you BOTH include a statement that you intend to marry within 90 days, and be sure to sign and date them.

Honestly I think it is a stupid requirement. They are asking you to prove something that can't really be proven or disproven, ie, intent. D'oh.

Yep that's what I was talking about. I will make sure we both put the intent to marry within 90 days of me entering the states.

Have a great day!

I did not see this before I posted. Ignore the part where I said I assume you mean the statement of intent. I have about four different windows open right now.

If you aren't married you can put N/A. Take a look at the example forms link at the top of the page. I used them as my guide for filling out the documents and didn't have any problems at all. Good luck
