I was wondering who has recommendations for buying books online, or if anyone know of any online used book site?

I wanted to buy some old books and I see no need of buying it new, I used to be an antique book shop lover back in Brazil, loved exploring dusty shelves and find great book for almost nothing, or books I didn't remember anymore and end up buying to read again.

It must ship to Puerto Rico or it's not good for us, btw.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yep. I'd recommend Amazon because they'll guarantee the transaction and you can see the ratings for the sellers. I worked with a guy - he and his wife sold used books through the internet on the side. They would frequent used book stores, flea markets, etc.

I checked Amazon but the shipping is so expensive! It's almost the same as buying at the Borders here.

some ebayers will accept cash or money order. Paypal is easy enough to sign up, think all ya need is a credit card

I second the Amazon.com sellers. I buy used from them all the time.

I love amazon. I've already used them in Germany and now here in the US. They have great customer service. In the few instances I had to return something, they were always quick to credit the amount back or sent the replacement out.

Where available I always use the free shipping option, which saves cost.

They also offer used books, but note that shipping happens not from Amazon then, but from the private party.

$65 for shipping?! what are you ordering? Usually the regular USPS shipping costs apply, which are not too high, unless of course you want extras like expedited shipping, insurance etc...

Books. The thing is hubby and I want a few books each and we wanted to save some buck getting used, but they're each coming from a different place so shipping is expensive.
