EAD Card Ordered & job offer

Just a general question which may have already been answered somewhere.

My EAD Card production was ordered Sept 27 and I already have a temp SSN which I received when I arrived. Can I accept any offers of employment even though my card has not arrived in my mailbox. (Judging by what I read I should have my card soon). I have one company interested in me and are patiently waiting for my EAD also.

thanks

Marc

The card should be there soon, it only took four days after Claudeth received the approval email. I would think the email would be acceptable.

According to the I-9 requirements, your employer is to obtain "proof" of employment eligibility the first day that you work. It's up to them on whether or not they want to take the risk.

You should have your EAD soon. Also it is not a temp SSN, you have that number for the rest of your life. When you get your GC you can go to the SSO and have the "only with DHS authorisation" removed.

I 130 & I129F (K3) and AOS info in timeline

I think there's a grace period for the employer if the person can show that they have applied (here, received) for eligible status and they expect the proof within 90 days. E.g., a graduate student or H1-B can start work as long as they've applied for the SSN, even if it takes a while to be processed. Since he IS eligible to work, and can show the employer that the card is on its way, I don't think there's even a risk for them. :)
