I am separated i got my 2 year conditional gc and im coming to US to file removing conditions. And now i dont have a place to stay and i plan to live with a friend from different state. My question is...

1. Do i need to notify the immigration right away for my change of address upon my arrival?

2. Can i c/o my mailing address to my employer's name ( my previous address is address to my husbands name is there a conflict with this in my immigration records behind there knowledge that i am separated? )

3. Do i need to change my SSN to work in different state?

4. What is the easiest application for approval in my case.? filing 10 year green card or removal of condition?

5. My divorce is still in process. How long does it take to get done?

i am not an immigration attorney. the following advice is only my opinion. you may want to consult with an immigration attorney.

1. immigration should be notified as soon as possible regarding any address change.

2. it's ok to reside at one address, and get your mail c/o another address.

3. you do not need another ss number. one ss number allows you to work anywhere in the US and stays with you for life.

4. the I-751 application is the only application i know of to lift conditional residence status in order to gain permanent status.

5. divorce proceedings vary from state to state. i suggest going to the website of your state government and research information about divorce.

finally, go to the USCIS website and study the I-751 instructions.

best of luck to you.

You can not remove the conditions on your own unless you are divorced....

You say you are returning to file for Removal of conditions... are you still living in the US? if not how long have you been gone... you may have already given up your rights to your greencard by not meeting the residence conditions for a greencard holder... you will need yo give us more information about your case before we can give any more detailed info...

Jean,

Can't you go back to your conjugal home? Are you in danger of physical harm if you do?

You have to wait until your divorce is final before you can file for I-751. However, before you sign the divorce papers, please consult with good lawyer to make sure you are well protected.

When you file for I-751 you will also need to show proof that your marriage was entered into in good faith. This means you will have to put together documents showing that during your marriage you had joined finances, joint bills, joint accounts, joint assets, etc.
