Hi guys,

Great forum and it is good to see people helping people.

I have 4 questions....

1. I met my fiance on one of the cupid sites. Should I list as a marriage broker? I do not think cupid is a marraige broker. We simply exchanged emails and started talk I visited 3 months later for the first time.

2. In the last 5 years she lived for a full year in 8 months in London and 4 in Italy while in school. Her passports are stamped. Do I need the address she lived while in school or will her home address suffice?

3. How should I spell Brazil? Brasil or Brazil (American style)

4. Brazil has 3 consulates. The Brasilia office has the shortest wait of all Brasilian offices for interview. I have to fly her to one anyway so can I choose the office she interviews at?

Thanks for your help,

Mike

1. I don't think so.

2. She will have to give the address of all the places she has stayed. (You wont need to include any place she lived at temporarily or on vacation). She will need a police certificate from the UK though.

3. Doesnt matter

4. Only the consulate in Rio does interviews for K visas.

Thank you for your answers,

Now will the police certificate go in the inital I-129F packet that I will file next week or will she only need it for the interview?

She only needs the police certificate for the interview. Don't get the police certificate until you get close to your interview time though, as it's only good for 6 months. Best of luck to you!

Mike,

I suggest you study the instructions for the I-129F carefully. Your question indicates you haven't. You won't see any instruction to send a police certificate with the petition. Send them what the instructions tell you to send them. After studying the instructions, please ask any remaining questions.

The problem with piecemeal questions before reading instructions is the huge danger you'll not ask something you would have known to ask about, had you studied them carefully.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Thanks for the answers to your questions,

I only asked the question regarding the police cert because I did not see anywhere regarding where the police cert is used. I am a stock broker for a major firm. I am generally very good with papers, after asking the question searched and found the answer. I feel kind of dumb now but I am not afraid to ask. I hope to be able to provide assistance to others in the future. Thanks to all for your answers, I appreciate the speedy replies.

Thanks again guys,

Mike

I would cover your butt on the cupid site question. We got stuck right smack dab in the middle of the whole IMBRA mess and they can be very picky about what does and does not constitute a marriage broker. You may wish to include a short explanation (on a separate sheet) that you met on such-and-such website to clarify. Just my $.02 I wouldnt wish the IMBRA terror on anyone.
