Have Verizon cell phone and local land line and been pretty satisfied. I used to have a great North America calling package with ATT - 1200 minutes and free calls to Canada for $50! - but when they merged with Cingular they refused to honor it if any changes were made to my account - like adding Derek for instance. :crying: And it seems like no one has a good North America package anymore, so we made the jump to Verizon. Just FYI, Verizon made a deal with DC metro and are the only company to provide service to customers in the metro tunnels which is the big reason we went over to them.

We have Pioneer Telephone for long distance and love it so far. 3.9 cents a minute to Canada and good rates for the rest of the US. http://www.pioneertelephone.com/ We used to use Skype and I liked it. But our internet connection was a bit too slow for it sometimes resulting in some delays that used to irritate Derek.

We have Comcast cable but only because that's what our apartment complex provides. Recently it's been really crappy and I would love to be able to switch, but it's part of the rent, so I am not going to pay for it twice!

We have Cox. It is the only one I really know about here in the US.

I haven't seen any problems with it.

I love HBO on demand. I don't know if all cable companies have it.

Well I don't have any experience with this yet however my Sister does and as I speak to her on the phone a lot - I felt able to give a review haha!

Anyway she uses Time Warner now. She was with AT&T for a few years and it was ok, however when she moved about a mile, to another house they dumped her as they said they couldn't offer enhanced 911 in the area. Lovely.

So she switched to TW - btw they don't have a lot of choices where they live. She likes them though, she had a problem with her internet (turned out to be the computer) but they came out the next day to look. For phone, cable and internet she pays about $145 (incl tax).

They have voip which is very handy as she has unlimited calling to Canada.

ok, getting the major run-around with verizon when I"m just trying to ask them if I can order Fios TV at our Arlington VA address!!!

wasted 30 mins of my life on their customer service recording...

and then it just hangs up on me while i'm on hold with a specific dept!!!

who else can I use in the Arlington VA area? Cox's website said they don't service the area and I should see comcast. But comcast is $55 per month which I think is ridiculous for the next level up from BASIC cable.

sigh.

Right now we're using Comcast for our cable on demand and internet. So far I haven't had any complaints about either - and I've never had on demand cable, so I'm loving that.

Bee and I are going to try out AT&T Cingular for our cell phones, since we didn't like any of the phones that they were offering at Verizon. My in-laws have AT&T and rave about the service.

Nini - Vancouver BC, Canada (she's the one who does the forum thing)

Bee - Devon PA, USA (he's the one who gave her the shiny ring)

Getting our sanity tested by bureaucracy since 2007.

Here we go again...

Removal of conditions @ VSC

9/4/2010 - sent!

9/14/2010 - NOA

I guess Comcast is okay now that they've stopped the thing where they were illegally reducing the bandwidth of anyone using Vonage instead of Comcast Voice ... it only took a court order. And I guess I don't mind too much that they keep bragging about how "lightning fast" their cable Internet is, so what if it's 6Mbps for more money than I used to pay for 15. And they have really cool ads. I'd tell you about them, but they're not funny unless you see them because they're all visual gags. We have a pretty sweet cable package, basically for an extra $5 a month we get on-demand and music channels (which we do listen to a LOT) without having to buy a real "digital" package.

I liked Cablevision okay except they did call me two or three times a week trying to get me to switch to Optimum Voice when (1) Vonage is way better and (2) at the time, Optimum Voice went down every time there was high trafficâ€â€i.e. every night from 6-9 pm and all day on weekends.

All cable companies suck @$$, if I had a choice I'd go with whoever was cheapest.

Vonage is all that and a bag of chips, but they're in some legal hot water so I don't know that I'd expect them to stay that way. But we pay less than $25 a month including international calls.

Suddenlink for cable and internet... they tend to shut down for maintenance at times, mornings from apx 2 to 5 ... when I called them to complain they told me they can't do that during the day... but then is when I sleep when I'm working late night shifts
