Wired: It was never on paper that Deckard is a replicant.

Scott:It was, actually. That's the whole point of Gaff, the guy who makes origami and leaves little matchstick figures around. He doesn't like Deckard, and we don't really know why. If you take for granted for a moment that, let's say, Deckard is a Nexus 7, he probably has an unknown life span and therefore is starting to get awfully human. Gaff, at the very end, leaves an origami, which is a piece of silver paper you might find in a cigarette packet, and it's a unicorn. Now, the unicorn in Deckard's daydream tells me that Deckard wouldn't normally talk about such a thing to anyone. If Gaff knew about that, it's Gaff's message to say, "I've read your file, mate." That relates to Deckard's first speech to Rachael when he says, "That's not your imagination, that's Tyrell's niece's daydream." And he describes a little spider on a bush outside the window. The spider is an implanted piece of imagination. And therefore Deckard, too, has imagination and even history implanted in his head.

I read that article - BR is coming out in the theatres toward the end of the year in a new cut to coincide with the DVD release.

Let's hope there's no "Deckard shot first" jiggery-pokery.

one of my favorite movies...i like the book by ####### too...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

 I was impressed to find out that Scott went to art school and still loves to paint. His design sense definitely shows in Bladerunner. It's a great interview and I was thinking of you comments about the convoluted mess the original book was when Scott said he couldn't read the through the book.

Does anyone remember reading a book by the same author? It was called 'white' something....... and was about the world that would have been if Japan had beaten the US in WW2....... I read it years ago, and it was brilliant.

Scott was originally a director of TV commercials before he got into movies.

Shows a lot in his early stuff - Alien, BR and to a lesser extent, Legend.

I haven't really liked much of his stuff since then. Same with Steven Spielberg really - Spielberg lost me when he started making 'serious' movies. Oddly enough Scott lost me as well but for the opposite reason.

####### really isn't the best writer - his short stories really aren't that well polished, but his ideas and meditations on reality are unique and simply fantastic.

Not sure, but it was set in Japan-occupied San Francisco.......

Can't say I remember what I thought about his skills, but his creative thinking was impressive.

Harris' book 'Fatherland' is on a similar subject but his writing is very well researched and skilled.

I'm looking forward to it.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Blade Runner was a classy film. It had a dark, oppressive atmosphere to it, and was set to a fabulous score by Vangelis, which is up there with the great fim soundtracks.

Oh, and Daryl Hannahs legs ................. on, my!

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

That's true - and its criminal the full soundtrack has never been released commercially, only a cut together montage of music and audio quotes. Still very good - but you lose a lot.
