It was costly and frustrating. Felt like we were forever filling out paperwork and one of us was running all over the place trying to apply for this and/or pay for that. Ours went relatively fast and for that I am grateful. I occupied my time as best I could and we both focused on the postives. I'm glad we sailed through it and never would contemplate ever doing it again for any reason. In the end, the whole process brought us closer together.

Funny thing is, just cause you get the K-1, the fun doesn't end. We are in the process of preparing for the 10 year unconditional green card next August. More paperwork and money. Fun, fun, fun.

And, then the year after that, we anticipate playing the fun and games for naturalization. The fun just never seems to end.

it's all the uncertainty and the sliding estimated dates that always move further away that get us really down. We never feel like we are making any progress. It's all jump through this hoop, pay extra for this, wait 2 months longer. Sometimes it feels unbearable. Just need to keep sane by remember why we are doing this.

The wait is the hardest part. The paperwork and the fees are something you have to live with. It doesn't end with the F-1. There's the marriage paperwork, SS card, EAD, AP, Conditional green card, removing conditions (this is where we are at) then citizenship.

Depending on the day you ask me that question, my answer would be different.

The process was hard enough, the costs were ridiculous, but the missing "home" part is the hardest for me. If we had immigrated to Canada, my husband would not have any problems missing the U.S. His family lives very far away and we don't see them much anyways.

I am not a very patient person but I'd say that the processing time for our K-1 was acceptable. I was freaking out at the begining because our NOA1 took almost 1 month and people kept saying it only takes about 10 days... LATER I learned that the date on the NOA1 is not that important.

In my opinon, the process itself is not complicated at all... we had been reading about it and getting informed for quite a while before we filed and we also learned a lot here in VJ.

Our process from filing to the interview date took 7 months, that's pretty much how long we estimated it would take (we thought 6-9 months).

The hardest part, is not being able to start planning our wedding because you don't have anything certain until the visa is on your hand.

The waiting to hear if you are approved part is the HARDEST. Especially when we thought VSC would be a couple months faster than it was. I don't feel like filling out forms and getting them in was that demanding honestly. My fiance and i did not fight over this process.

It is very stressful and hard on a relationship if feeling are really involved..But if you go through this you can go through much more..Its worth it!Just think of being with the person you love everyday and being able to do simple daily stuff together...

It was a test, no doubt, But there was a little fun in it! thinking of new ways to surprise each other at a distance, the long night talks, jumping of excitement with every visit

The big picture is, you are put to the test for a few months, and then you have a whole life ahead of you to be together.

It's definetly worth it to be with the love of your life

Claudeth didn't seem to have any problems at all while waiting for the visa and has adjusted quite nicely to America

It's been hard, but after a few break downs and wanting to scream at the consulate we have become resigned to the wait.... especially since we are aware of the fact that it may be alot longer. Still waiting on the final interview 8 months later and then will AP while waiting for security clearances which can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 9 months

My SO and I have become stronger through this and it will be worth it in the end.... everyone hang in there and you will be reuinited soon

Honestly, the worst part of this process for me has been settling in here in the US. I do not recommend moving to the US just before Christmas! It also didn't help that my mom was diagnosed with leukemia a few months after I moved. I will have been here three years in November, and it's only been recently that I feel really comfortable living here.

For my hubby, the time apart waiting for the visa was the worst, he's not a very patient person! But we both knew what we were getting into, and were prepared for a long wait. We were pleasantly surprised when it didn't take as long as we originally thought (we were blessed in that both TSC and Montreal were in the middle of fast spells).
