Good Morning

I am going to send my I 130 this morning. Thanks everyone that helped me get ready for this step. I am soooo nervous.

By the way the Step by Step K3 is really great.

I have also noticed that the CR1 / IR1 are being approved pretty fast, almost as fast as the K3, Whats the deal with that?

11-04-2008: INTERVIEW DATE- VISA APPROVED

Posted

Congrats on sending the packet. The CR1/IR1 I130s are being approved a bit faster now than the K3 I129Fs. They are two different visas and do have different adjudication processes, hence the difference. The question of which one to pursue comes down to the NVC timing. I130s take 4-6 months at NVC, while K3s go through in about a week. So even if your I130 get approved, a K3 might still be faster. If you can wait the extra time, or anticipate that your CR1 might get approved 3 or 4 months before a K3 would be approved, it is worth not sending the I129F as the CR1 is the better visa (green right in the mail shortly after arrival, arrival as an LPR, can work immediately, etc. and no $1010 for AOS). There is also the question of interview schedulding at the embassy/consulate your SO will go through. Sometimes there is a big difference in the interview scheduling (several months longer for one over the other) that might influence that decision.

If you are truly pursuing a K3 visa, you can now file the I-130 and I-129F together in the same envelope.

However, nearly every day, we encourage people to seriously consider not filing the I-129F at all. The reasons are in at least one thread a day here.

I second Pushbrk's recommendation. If you do decide to file the I-29F, send them together. I sent mine simultaneously and saved a month of waiting for an NOA1 for the I-130.

I-130 held by USCIS for future AOS

I-129F

7/27/2007 - Sent I-129F Package to TSC*

7/30/2007 - Received by TSC

8/30/2007 - NOA-1 - Fee waived

3/19/2008 - NOA2

4/3/2008 - Received by NVC

4/10/2008 - Received by embassy

4/11/2008 - Faxed packet 3 forms to embassy
