I hope they catch him soon. I'm wondering whether it was a good idea though to reveal the technology?

my thoughts are they did that as they don't have a clue who he is and they are hoping the public can be of help.

I understand releasing the 'unswirled' image and asking, "Do you know this man?" But releasing the original image semms like, well, self-congratulatory. I would have thought that they would have been able to catch more offenders in future who swirl their features if they hadn't have just let them know not to do that anymore.
