My wife is ready to drop off all the paperwork at VFS. The embassy states to drop all paperwork at VFS 10-15 days before the interview. Is it 10-15 business days prior to interview or just 10-15 days before the interview?

The pink slip they send is confusing, says business days in some places and days some other place.

Its safe to go with days instead of business/working days. I did this with my parents I-130

The wording in the instructions is confusing. It is mentioned "ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE PRESENTED AT YOUR NEAREST VFS OFFICE NO EARLIER THAN FIFTEEN (15) WORKING DAYS AND NO LESS THAN TEN (10) DAYS PRIOR TO YOUR INTERVIEW. "

I think that they are talking about 10 business days. However, my wife submitted her documents about 10 days before her interview.

they have mentioned

"Visit the visa application centre no earlier than 10 working days and no less than 7 working days before the scheduled interview appointment. Applicant must submit all the documents to VFS as specified in the “Appointment package” or “ Packet 4” (those which pertain to your case) on any working day and pay in the Courier Fees. "

i am confused with 10-15 days opposed to 7-10 days in this vfs website.wht shld one rely on?

would appreciate if seniors could enlighten !!!

Yes it is confusing but I would go with the written instructions that the Consulate sends directly to the applicant, in Packet 4 (10-15 working days).

I thought that it's best just not to submit anything...and I am going to bring everything to the interview instead. The only thing I am doing before the interview is submiting the courier fee.

I don't know about that Jas S, I think it's better to follow the instructions and submit whatever they accept at the VFS office before the interview!

The reason they ask for paperwork beforehand is so they have time to go through everything and review it all before the interview. We think they make the actual decision at that stage, because often the interview is only a formality and it seems like they really make the approval/denial decision in advance. The just don't have time on the day of the interview to go over all the paperwork of each and every person that comes for interview (that would make the waiting time into the evening, rather than just the morning hours that it is now!). We notice that the COs hardly even look at paperwork on that day (interviews go really fast). I have heard of others who didn't submit paperwork to the VFS and they got put on AP for weeks, I guess until the CO's had time to review the case in detail. Better to get the review before the interview and submit whatever you can to the VFS office.

I know they are familiar with your case already and the pregnancy of your wife will probably get you two approved OK anyway. But why not be safe than sorry and make sure they have time to approve all the paperwork before the actual interview day? Good luck!

Ok, thanks guys. You probably saved me from making a big mistake. I will get together all the papers based on the Packet 4 they gave me and submit it all. The only thing I don't have ready is the Affidavit of support, I will submit everything besides that.

my husband went to the VFS office in chandigarh and they took very few documents from him. they accepted marriage certificate, form 156, copy of passport, police clearance, birth certificate. they told him that everything else has to be submitted on the day of the interview.

so, i think it all depends on the vfs office you go to.

well i called vfs -mumbai today and they told me

Visit the visa application centre no earlier than 10 working days and no less than 7 working days before the scheduled interview appointment for submission.
