We filed the I-130 end July. Had I-864 interview end Sept. Visa arrived in Chronopost envelope the Monday after the interview!

The I-864 was a lot less hassle than I'd been made to believe by reading some posts here. (Or perhaps it was me reading some difficulty into the process upon reading...?)

The person interviewing us was very relaxed and friendly and we discussed whether to go with an affadavit of support or not before making the decision.

To my surprise, she DID look at the intended immigrant's (my husband's) assets (optionally listed on the I-864) and would apparently have been willing to use them in the overall assets if they had been more easily liquidated within the 1 year period...

Also, she didn't seem at all interested in the proof I'd brought it to prove that my 'domicile' is still the USA despite having lived abroad for more than 15 years! What a gift it is to be a US citizen...!!

We were out of the Embassy in a little over an hour and couldn't have asked for it to be easier.

Congrats! :)

In the I-864 instructions, it states that the intending immigrant's assets can be combined with the sponsor's income/assets as long as the sponsor is their spouse. So that's not surprising! ;)
