We watched this website to see when Ramadan began in Morocco since my husband wanted to fast with his family back home:

moonsighting

Most other countries showed up one by one on the list with their begin date, but not Morocco. They ended up starting a day after most, two days after some. We had already started fasting when we found out we were a day early. My husband told me someone out in the desert watches for the moon, and that the moon usually appears last in Morocco. I don't understand it, but that's okay. There's something kind of exciting about watching the "results" roll in on that website, or maybe I'm just a nerd.

So we're guessing at Saturday but didn't make any other plans for Sunday just in case. Either way, I need to start baking.

I'm the USC.

I just spoke to my parents (they live in Saudi Arabia) and they said that Eid is Friday.

I think that the reason people have Eid on different days because people insist on sighting the moon themselves instead of following the people who are in the time zones ahead of them (which would make sense).

Anyway, that is my source :)

Gulf to mark Eid on Friday, Egypt on Saturday

Thu Oct 11, 3:10 PM ET

Saudi Arabia, home to Islam's holiest sites, has announced that the fast-breaking festival of Eid al-Fitr will start on Friday, but Egypt will not mark the feast until Saturday.

The announcement late Thursday by Saudi Arabia's higher judicial council, carried by official media, came as religious authorities in four other Gulf Arab states -- the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain -- also announced that Eid al-Fitr would begin on Friday.

Religious authorities in Jordan and Lebanon also said Eid would start on Friday, while Libya had announced the same on Wednesday.

The Gulf sultanate of Oman, however, announced that Eid would kick off on Saturday. The same was true of Egypt's Islamic authority, meaning Muslims in both of those countries will have to fast 30 days instead of 29.

The three-day festival, which begins after the sighting of a new crescent moon, marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, during which devout Muslims abstain from food, drink, smoking and sex from dawn to dusk.
