whoa it's WAY different in the Coast Guard.

All the branches are different. In the Navy they treat families like dirt. The Air Force is the best. Not so Sure about the Army and MC. The good thing about the CG is that you are usually deployed stateside and don't go on long deployments... so I've heard. I could be wrong.

It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Most bases have a policy that if you have been promoted to E-5 you are able to live off base if you are single. Most are able to reach this level in 2 years.

hehe... that's funny! My husband's MOS has been locked with no promotions for the entire 5 years he's been in. Still E-3! One of the new guys in his shop just picked up lance corporal and it was a big joke "welcome to the highest rank you'll ever see, E-3!"

That sucks. I was a navy nuke and went to boot camp as an E-3. E-4 automatic upon completion of my 1st school.

Trust me I feel for all enlisted families in the service. Thanks!!!!
