If you make enough to sponsor your fiance, using a co-sponsor is totally unnecessary. Why would you want to put yourself through all that paperwork, etc. if it's not necessary? The immigration process is already complicated enough.

Just my 2 cents worth, but if it were me, I certainly wouldn't bother with unnecessary paperwork. As long as you make more than the poverty guidelines state, there is no need for anything further. You won't increase your chances of approval just by having a co-sponsor. The financial aspect of the visa process is only one consideration towards your approval.

Good luck.

The I-134 must be signed in the presense of a Notary Public. The Notary will fill out their portion, sign and stamp. Don't sign until you're in front of the Notary.

Please check the dates on your I-134 form. I think you are using a form that is out of date. The current version (10/30/08) does not have the requirement to be notarized or affirmed by the CO. You are allowed to use older versions of the I-134 but it seems unneccessary and certainly not recommended.

It specifically states you do not require notarization.

See page 1, lower left corner of I-134 instructions for this form.

For relationship you could put "Fiancee of Son."

Good luck.

"Uncle of fiancé (petitioner)."

No, the question asks for the relationship of the beneficiary to the sponsor (joint-sponsor). So the correct response id "fiancee of nephew."

Sure enough, that's what it says.

You must sign Form I-134 in your full name. (Note: Signing Form I-134 is under penalty of perjury under U.S. law). For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarized after you sign it.

Which begs the questions. WHY is the option to have it notarized still even an option on the form?.

Please check the dates on the original post that you quoted. 2007. Back when they had to be notarized. :) Just thought I'd point that out. It would seem that someone pulled up an old thread to ask a question instead of just making a new one. (Makes things a little confusing... )
