Hi,

I need to travel urgently this month and have been avoiding it until now because the date of birth on my passport and green card are different (5 day difference, one is 3rd Feb other is 8th Feb). I cant get it fixed in time for me to return. Has anyone faced this? Will there be a problem?

Thanks

Sounds tricky, hope someone out there has advice for you...

I just wonder why you didn't do anything in the whole one year since your green card was sent? People have changed info on green cards, one person who posted here got her updated green card after a month. If you can delay a bit, I would advise applying for the change of info on your green card, before traveling.

These days you have to have "ALL your ducks in a row" or you may end up not getting back for awhile.

Try making an Info pass and explain your situation.

If your Greencard has an error on it you need to file form I-90.... follow the instructions for cards received with an error there is no charge for having it corrected..... do not attempt to travel outside the US with an incorrect card... if you need to travel urgently, once you have filed the I-90 form make an infopass appointment at your local office, take a copy of the I-90 and your passport, ask them for the I-551 stamp to be put in your passport so that you can travel...

No one looked at the greencard for date of birth (when my wife traveled in and out of the country 3 times last year)- I think it would be a non issue and a 3 for an 8 seems to be a typo errors. If you feel uncomfortable with this, then you may need to ask for a corrected copy and may have to shell out extra money for the correction. Make an infopass and do it if you choose. Good Luck

The Greencard is checked at every entry..... the CBP officer will swipe the Greencard and your full details will appear on his/her computer screen.... There is no charges involved with filing for a replacement Greencard when there is an error on it.... you just need to complete form I-90 and follow the instructions for Card Errors...

Thanks everyone for the replies....but its actually my passport which has the wrong DOB not the GC. Long story short its a pain in the butt getting a Pakistani passport fixed.....thats why I havent done it yet.

I am very comfortable with getting here because I can show the officer my birth certificate.....but its in Pakistan and wherever I transit that I am uncomfortable with.....anyone experienced something like that?

Thanks

Hi Readers,

My case may be a sign of hope, who are still waiting for conditions to be removed. My time line is this;

Filed I-751 End of June 08

Fingure prints Start of Aug 08

Online it says Revieved my case on Jan 5th, 09

Touched April, 09.... Officer said wait, I might recieve GC

Touched May end and got I-551 stamp, and was told again that I might recieve GC in 6 weeks.

filed N-400 End of June 09

Fingure prints date End of July 09

Touched Got fingure prints done today(nice of them) on Jul 14th, 09. The officer said I may not recieve

GC and might get adjusted at the time of interview of N-400

Touched VSC (phone) She appologized for delay, as its been much more than 180 days and no update at all. Said I

must recieve a letter by 2nd week of Aug, if not I should call again, and gave me a complaint

code, almost 15 letters long.

Lets see what happens next.

All the best to every one.
