I-864 Affidavit of Support confusing me!

Hey guys, thanks for the help in advance.

OK, so in I am sponsoring my wife, who is the immigrant. In part 3, I check yes to question 8 (I am sponsoring the principal immigrant name in part 2) and then on Question 10 (total number of immigrants I am sponsoring) I wrote 1.

Now Part 5 asks me to enter number I entered on question 10 (1), then 1 for myself, and then it asks to enter 1 if I am currently married.

Now, the immigrant IS my wife. So on the one hand, I dont want to lie and not enter a spouse, but at the same time, if I enter that, my household size is 3 instead of 2.

What do I do?

you don't count anyone twice. your household size is two. if you were sponsoring someone other than your wife as principal immigrant, then you would put 1 for being currently married.

OK so even though I'm married (and sending a copy of marriage certificate to prove her legal name change), I am leaving that blank and just entering 2 total?

That seemed like the right thing to do, I was just worried about getting caught in a 'lie' or something.

Correct. in that part you are entering people not being sponsored by the I-864.
