I'll try not to pout and it's my own stupid fault for calling DOS .... the woman was very nice and told me that she doesn't imagine that this case will be done before the first of the year.

:cry::cry::cry:

That's the first time anyone has actually put a date estimate to it. Alhumdulilah for it all.

calling the DOS and asking for an estimated time frame .. the first word they say ( 6 months )

and unfortunately if you already have passed these 6 months waiting then they will tell you ( it may take up to a year )

_ the thing is as long as the embassy itself can't predict a time frame SO the visa specialist who responds the calls at the DOS also can't predict a time frame .

as a side note, i think they are making some sort of progress though since most times they ask me for his name and this time she not only said his name she said his full name with all of the names that he has in there. Why I think this is progress is that on all of the forms we only put his first, second and last name, yet she knew his first, second, third, fourth and fifth.

Hello All,

Our Visa (I-129F) petition was approved by USCIS and sent to the US Embassy in Cairo (in April 2007). My fiance was interviewed for a K-1 Visa at the US Embassy in Cairo. We were told that my fiance (from Sudan) had to have a background clearance. We have waited patiently for 5 months (after the Interview), but keep being told that the case is still pending administrative processing.

The Visa process is a nightmare, so I understand your frustration. I have sent numerous e-mails to no avail (they tend not to respond or just respond that "case is pending administrative processing"). As for phone calls, it definitely helps to speak to a live person. I have been able to talk with Cairo about the status of my case, however my case is still pending. Recently, I sent out letters to the US Department of State, the Consul General and the Ambassador at the US Embassy in Cairo. (I hope to get a decent response). If they do not respond, then I will contact my Congressman to seek assistance with my case.

I will give you a few phone numbers that I have used for Cairo:

Operator (they can transfer you to a live person in the Consular section)- 202-2797-3300

Inger Tangborn (Consular Affairs Officer)-202-2797-2098

Inger's secretary-202-797-2306

Richard Hermann (Consul General)-202-2797-2256

Stuart Jones (Deputy Chief of Mission)-202-2797-2307

Francis Ricciardone (Ambassador)-2797-2302

Consular's Section (main line)- 202-2797-2200 (get recordings and put on hold, only open to check status on Sun- Thurs. 1pm-4pm; during Ramadan closes at 3pm).

Consular's Section Secretary- 202-2797-2504 or 202-2795-7373

Please keep trying because persistance pays off. Thanks for listening. Salaam.

I think ours took two weeks... Don't worry jordan seems to be moving right along... I hope your case is completed soon , I think the do name chaecks before they forward it, some take longer than others. It will be at the embassy before you know it  (I hope) I don't think there is anyway to know if it will make your case longer or not. Don't worry....

I called DOS today. I was told the same old line about ap and who knows when it will end, but he also said I see they are working on the case . really .. Well whatever that means. My boss was so funny later in the day I was telling her my first thought every day is OMG another day of AP.... ans she said teasing me "oh, don't worry there working on it" we both just giggled. I don't even know why I still call. I just always hope that I will here that its nearing completion or better yet the visa has been issued.

I was interviewed by a Washington Post Reporter for a news article to print sometime this week...I referenced to the time it takes to go through Cairo, and stated that I didnt understand the lack of information, mis-information, mistakes that are inexcusable. I also questioned why if each Embassy is a US Embassy....why they EACH have a DIFFERENT way to process these petitions. How is it in one Embassy its 2 weeks, another 10 months? Why cant we get answers as to WHAT is going on with our cases? Anyways...your congressmen, representatives can inquire...thats about it. We need immigration reform HERE in the STATES to make this work smoother.

Go for it...you were all in my thoughts when I was interviewed. Im hoping some press recognition will be seen by our politicians. The group of us in the other forum have really been pushing to send letters to all gthose that may listen, including Oprah.

In this thread are alot of great pro-active ways to get our voices heard. I"ve sent letters to everyone I can think of in regards to not MY petition but EVERYONE who is stuck in this miserably broken system. Anyways...the more that write and complain, the more we will be heard..if not for us...for those that will follow us...Egypt Embassy should not take this long, they are understaffed, with huge work loads. THIS is an example of a broken SYSTEM, not broken workers.

Good luck
