After the typical lengthy wait for our case to be approved we now find that somewhere between USCIS & NVC the documents are lost.

I was asked to write letters to both agencys asking them to find the documents. I have done that but have recieved no responce.

Has anyone else had this experiance? Please let me know the outcome of your situation. How long did it take to find the docs? Then what happend?

I would appreciate any responce.

Thank you.

Well isn't that lovely, they lose your documents and YOU have to follow up with them.

Anyway, sorry to hear that - hopefully someone will come along and share their experience with you. Did you personally keep a copy of everything you sent?

Did you send your forms via some courier service or certified mail? If yes, you can show verification that the documents were received at the USCIS and NVC and date signed for.

Did the USCIS and NVC cash the check payments for processing your forms? You should have a letter from them saying they received your money.

Did you make copies of your various applications before sending the originals?

I would write a letter something like this.

Dear NVC:

I received enclosed letter from the NVC (copy enclosed) stating payment has been received for our application (specify I-130, DS-230, etc).

We sent the original applications with supporting documentation on (Insert date) by (insert delivery method, ie Fedex, certified mail, etc). Enclosed is a photocopy of courier/postal verfication the NVC/USCIS received the documents on (insert date).

We are providing you a photocopy of the original application and photocopy of supporting documents in order to assist you in finding the originals you have misplaced.

Please advise us how we can further assist you in this matter. We also would appreciate if you could expidite our processing in lieu of this delay due to the loss of our applications.

Sincerely.

It can take up to 4 weeks for transfer cases from USCIS to NVC, also NVC's automated answer system on the phone tends to give info on the slow cases like spouse of LPR, or siblings of USC etc... Spouse of a US Citizen are fairly quick through NVC so the automated system will have no info.

Call NVC, and speak to an operator, probably Tuesday morning. 603 334-0700

tomcat, where did you find that G-22 form? I'm looking around the USCIS site and can't find it.

Ricker, we're in the same boat. Our case was approved by CIS, completed by NVC but CIS requested the case back. That was a month ago and CIS still says they never requested it back and have no clue where the documents are. This is after multiple phone calls and a few in person CIS visits.

Incredible! I was told by a USCIS supervisor to never speak to anyone except a supervisor if I expected to get anything done.

I hope both of us get some sensible answer soon.

Thanks

Sounds familiar. We had a similar incident. Originally we sent in certified copies for our 230. Then we received a letter requesting only original documents to be sent in. So we did. When our case was completed we were notified to bring one of the documents with us to the embassy because NVC claimed we told them the document was unavailable. So we rushed out and obtained a third set of documents at great expense, only to be told the documents were never lost..... the letter was wrong. The documents were there all the time. So moral of the story..... Triplicates not duplicates to be safe when preparing for a Visa Journey.

Looks to me like you're panicking way too early. Four weeks is not unusual under normal circumstances but with all the service centers backed up, I wouldn't be panicking yet if I were you. Call and talk to a real person on Tuesday. Monday is Columbus Day.
