What if my husband's interview is for CR, but he enters the US AFTER our second anniversary of marriage?

Will he be granted CR or IR status??

IR1.

Status of admission is determined by the immigration inspector at the POE, not by the visa. The visa only gives you permission to travel to the U.S. and to apply for admission.

The visa actually doesnt specify CR1 or IR1, though NVC notices would tend to make you think so. The visa is for a INA 201(b ) spouse.

CR1 is only for U.S. citizen spouses who are admitted for permanent residence before their 2nd marriage anniversity.

IR-1, present a copy of marriage cert to the officer at POE to show +2 years of marriage at entry, the POE officer will code the green card for the 10 year unconditional card.

you should get the IR1 but you do need to point it out to the POE officer...

If she gets CR1, she'll have to apply for a correction due to Service error. No legal basis to admit to CR1 if married more than 2 years. Proof of date of marriage is already inside the sealed envelope on the visa application and the petition.

Best way to verify at POE - check the status code written below the I-551 stamp.
