Just called the shuttle bus http://www.autobus.qc.ca/anglais/profil_an.html that will take you to hotel from airport in Montreal. You don't need to make a reservation when you arrive, it's when you depart. When you arrive the operator said to go to window or kiosk under "spot 5" and get your ticket. Bus departs every half hour. Still need to know exactly what "spot 5" is. lol Must be something outside where the buses and taxi are. wacko.gif

When i was there in 2004--the ticket window was just outside departures--and the bus was right outside from departures. I highly recommend them! Buy ur return ticket at same time and u save a few $$$. Bus takes u from airport to downtown train stn. From there u wait for a smaller shuttle that takes u to downtown hotels! That smaller shuttle was FREE, just had to tip if u so desired! And exact reverse when u leave. Very convenient

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I would recommend taking the shuttle from the airport to downtown or wherever your hotel is.

I braved the Montreal transit and took the local bus from dt to the airport to pick up the husband. The trip took almost 2.5 hours. BUT I only paid like 3 dollars or something :P

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Yay! Will the hotel be able to tell me where I can get a tour?

Yes, absolutely. Just ask the Concierge or at the Front Desk. But if you turn left coming out of the QE hotel and walk one block up Boulevard René-Lévesque you'll come upon Dorchester Square. There is a really great Tourist Information Centre there, and you can book your tour(s) straight from them.

So in light of Candy's recent experience at Hotel La Tour I was thinking that maybe everyone who has stayed in a hotel near the Montreal Consulate could share their experience so we have some kind of reference?
