Hey guys, I actually booked a room at the holiday inn express down the street from the consulate. A friend of mine who occasionally has work meetings in montreal stays at the holiday inn and gave it fantastic reviews. However I will give a review the moment I am done in montreal. Going to bring my laptop along with me and hope to be able to get on within moments of my interview. Heres too praying :) Just trying to get all the paperwork in order now. I am sooo nervous already hehe

I am staying at Trylon hotel/apartments...will be staying in Montreal so therefore was looking for something that had a kitchen so I could prepare my own meals. Place is clean and really have no complaints at this point. About a five minute walk to Medisys and ten minutes to the consulate. Grocery store about a two minute walk. I am renting a studio apartment for about $85 a day taxes included. Hope this helps someone else

Eggspectations is super yummy! They are at the Hyatt Regency. We ate there 3x! Ruebens on Rue de Saint Catherine is pretty awesome too.

Whether or not this is relevant to you will depend on how long you're planning on staying in Montreal. But I thought I should mention that Square Philips Hotel (mentioned by others previously and very close to the consulate) has a package deal called "Sweet Deal" (or "Fall Sweet Deal") which gets you 50% off every other night of your stay. There are a few other perks too (15% off at the Bay, something to do with the Casino [not interesting to me], and some bath products, etc.) You can call the hotel and ask about this package, or you can google "Fall Sweet Deal Montreal" and find actually a list of hotels that offer this package (I think for our purposes Square Philips is best...but Le Crystal might be nice for some of you wanting a litle more luxury, if you can afford it).

Anyway, I've used this package deal before; it's not well known, and it can really save you some money if you're staying more than one night.

Hotel Le Dauphin Centre-Ville is a two block walk from the consulate. It's also a 3 block walk from Complexe Desjardins, a mall with a Canada Post on the bottom level. The levels are colour-coded; look for the lime green sign for the lower level. I also recommend the poutine at Franx Supreme in the mall food court. :D There's a shuttle from the airport, the 747 Express, that stops 2 blocks away from Le Dauphin: get off at stop 6, Rue Jeanne-Mance. Don't do what I did and count alleys on Google Maps as streets; pay attention to street names and you'll be fine. :bonk:

The hotel was quite nice. Cleanliness is very important to me and Le Dauphin gets an 'A'. The people at the front desk were helpful and spoke English. The room came with a PC. Apparently the hotel has WiFi, but I just plugged the cat5 from the room PC into my laptop. The shower was nifty: walls and floor of small tile, with instead of a door or curtain, just a wall and a half of stationery glass sealed together at the corner. They have a larger selection than the usual continental breakfast; they even have a cappuccino machine. Breakfast starts at 06:00, so plenty of time to check out, get breakfast, and get to the consulate.

Ok I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express.

A++++++++ Hotel.

The outside is fairly boring but the inside is fantastic. We booked a room with 2 queen size beds and non smoking.

When I walked into the room my jaw dropped, this is more like a suite. There is a bedroom with two beds, a television, end tables and a open kitchenette area, microwave,fridge,coffee pot, a bar stool area. A sperate room office, with a television and desk, free internet. A Hugh bathroom, bigger then my own damn bathroom. Good shower. Lots of closet space. Ok view. French channels mostly but the do have pay per view. AWESOME customer service, valet guy hailed me a taxi in the morning.Oh and very good cold and hot breakfest. I give this place a 4.5/5.

The only missing is a resturant, but you are near the mall and there is a small pub like resturant 10 steps away calla allegos.
