Morning!

I have no cats :(

Sparrow- you look so happy in your avatar picture. you know I see that and think, oh good, she's feeling better. I hope you really are.

Well its a new day and I only feel like thinking about happy things...so I won't be calling any one else poopy names or getting in anyone's business. My neice turns 2 this week and they're doing a birthday thing today at this kid farm so that should be fun. I'll be getting out of here soon to do some shopping .

Do any of you own a hybrid car? Any experiences with them? Are they as gas-saving as they say? I'm not on the highway much so do any of you know if that makes a difference? I don't even know which models come in hybrid forms. I'll need a car soon and want to look into these maybe this week.

Hope everyone has a nice day!!

Hi Dawn! Thanks so much for the good wish, I kind of am feeling better. My mom had the same bug last week so she said I should be near the end of it. :) and I just found out that the ballroom I wanted to rent for the wedding is only $350 on the day we want!!

One of my friends owns a 2003 Prius, but I don't know who makes the Prius. He bought it used but the transmission already had to be rebuilt a few months back (??????? I was shocked when he told me but I think he's an awful driver so I don't know if he was just being rough with the car or what. lol)

Hello Dawn and good luck on the car shopping . Prius is by Toyota as well as some camry's and other Toyota models and I had a co-worker that had a Prius and he was not satisfied with it in general. The gas mileage was good but if you had to drive up a hill or incline it was sluggish and he felt like all the cars ran over him on the highways so he put it back on the market and last I had heard he was trying to sell it and the re-sell was not going to well.

Good morning and Happy Saturday everyone, hope its the start of a good weekend!

Today is my sons 12th birthday - we had a party for him last night and this morning he is headed out to San Fran with a friend of mine and her son because its Fleet Week meaning there are open tours of all the big naval ships and a Blue Angels appearance and all that stuff. He is thrilled over the moon and I am a little sad to miss it but I am not going on a 3 hour car drive at this point within 4 weeks of due date... I just dont feel rustic enough to unexpectedly drop a baby in a vineyard somewhere between here and SF...

Here's a pic of my baby kitties from the last orphaned batch. The black one went to a new home this week but the other 3 are proving hard to place so I suspect my permanent cat number has jumped from 3 to 6. So I'll have a 12 year old adolescent, an infant, and 6 cats. wow. the more the merrier I guess ...... Good thing my husband is a good sport. :P

Incidentally this pic is a fairly accurate vision of what it looks like when I am surfing VJ :)

Sarah - cute kitties!!!!! I don't blame you for not wanting to drop a baby in a vineyard!! Just out of curiosity, is it safe to have cats in the house when you have a baby? I remember hearing something about it not being safe but I can't remember why. I had my first baby 3 weeks early and my second 4 weeks early so good luck 'cause the countdown is on!!!

WOM - that's just wrong!!!! :lol::lol:

jessngeorge - good luck and let us know what your numbers are!

dawn - I don't have a hybrid but when gas prices started to soar past $2/gallon a few years ago I traded my Toyota Sienna for my Toyota Matrix and it's super good on gas. I'm not sure of the mileage but I travel back and forth to Boston 4 days/week which takes me 45 minutes in traffic each day and then do local driving such as dropping the kids off at games, going shopping, etc. and about once every week and a half I pay $28 to fill 'er up with regular unleaded. It is a roomy car even though it's tiny and you can manipulate the back seats to fit skiis, etc. in there. It is not sluggish at all and I love being able to park in tiny places that no one else can park. Again though it's roomy so you dont' feel like you're in a small car at all. I got mine with a little under 1,000 miles on it for around $17k.

sparrow - that is a wonderful deal on a ballroom!!!!!

JODO, ayesha4akram, marynmian, jasman - happy saturday!

Dropped off my oldest to field hockey practice and then went with the youngest to get about 6 webkins for her early Eid present. She's so psyched she's online now registering them all. :) Nothing much planned for today other than getting my inspection sticker which is 5 days overdue and then looking for a new soup recipe. Every gas station that we went to earlier had a line of at least 5 cars and I was told it takes 1/2 hour per car for the inspection so I hope it lets up soon. I hate being pulled over for that. (or for anything else for that matter!!!)

Have a good one everyone!

My Mom has a hybrid and once it reaches 25 MPH or above it uses the gas engine. You can actually tell that it changes while driving. They are so quiet though it's really nice.

One time we parked the car and got out and started walking and I turned back around and noticed that the windshield wipers were still on... my mom left the car on with the keys in the ignition and was about to walk away! It was pretty funny. You can't hear the car when you turn it on and when going lower speeds it doesn't sound like it's on.

I have never been in a Prius but we have a joke here that you have to be a special kind of person to drive a Prius. (No offense intended). I rarealy see anyone in a Prius going over 60 on the freeway here. It's very interesting.

My Mom's car is a Lexus hybrid and it has really good pickup and is not sluggish.
